Anyone know if yellow kites are the best colour kite for extended kite life? Mate told me yellow was colourfast and reflected UV. Any 2015 kites that are yellow?

How long are you planning on keeping it for?

Drying your kites in your garage before rolling and packing will make them last twice as long.
150 sessions then become normal and even 200 sessions.
Whereas packing an stowing away your wet kite will kill the cloth of the kite within 75 sessions.
In paragliding the measure the porosity of the cloth: the amount of air that passes through the cloth. It's the same material for paragliders and kites.
High porosity of a paraglider can kill the pilot.


So take care of your kites and your kite budget will be only half of what you are spending now.

And red kites go faster

Hmmm I was told Black is trully the best colour to allow heat to pass through the canopy and not have it deflected with say white coloured canopies. The less 'heat' the canopy absorbs the less chance the canopy builds up to being too crispy or brittle and then the rips and pin holes appear.

Surely a black canopy gets hotter than a white canopy?

Black will stop uv deterioration though which I think would be more relevant.

I guess you could argue one way or the other.
I have had black to white kites and all I can think is if you leave one kite inflated flapping in the hot sun while
you are out on your other ,this would affect its life.
I have had lighter colors stain from that brown foam stuff you see washed up on beaches after a storm and that stuff
doesnt come out of light material.
My core is yellow and one of my bandits is black and both have same life out of them though Bandit is lighter material and that is another whole
argument on life out of which kite.
just try and look after them and dont stress and think to much,its all about fun!!!

Lay a black kite on grass for just a minute prior to packing away and it will create it's own humidity ie moisture, a lighter coloured kite doesn't,

It's about the colours ability to absorb UV light, darker colours are better, yellow is the worst.

There's a pom, a tiddlywink and a black fella, which one handles the heat best?

Just don't drop the kite. can u say yum yum yellow.

Totally agree plummet. Black absorbs heat and would not last as long as a white kite.

And which one sweats the most? Yeah right. Skin pigmentation has nothing to do with kite longevity. White reflects damaging uv where black absorbs it. I would go for the white kite or yellow.

Doesn't black absorb the heat? So wouldn't white be better as it's reflected away keeping the kite cooler?

Black looks better. What else could matter?

Hmmm... What about if the wind changes direction or dies or gear fails and your out at sea at dusk

Good luck being found with a black kite or white kite on a black sea with white caps or a white or black kite in the snow, you look like a rock or hide with the dark sea

Black does look great though, but sucks if you need to be rescued in the snow or sea for whatever reason...
