Well I was out my on X Box 3 and I must admit the new kite is really, really good. I found it has a lot of power but does not feel like it. It is greate for wave riding and the day I took it for a pint it was 12-14Knots and all other kiters were struggling.
I weigh about 115kg and was on my bigger board (190cm x 50cm) TT witht he X Bow 3 12m. At first I noticed the build of the kite was very robust. The pully issue had been fixed by Reg at Windsurfing Perth (See them for details). The bar pressure is good and I like the turing speed and general handling.
Wave Riding I was a light W/NW with odd wind angle at Lano so it was difficult to find any good spots to waveride. I found the wave just down from Eddy Is was a real challenge. Normally you can't kite there because the washing machine effect, changing wave angle and or wind direction.
I was even more suprised to find I could actually get a ride on it with my new kite. The other 2 guys out could not match me (on other brands) and they were lighter one up to 20Kg the other up to 40kg.
The feel and flying speed make the kite great for wave riding and I could really slow things down and get in the barrel, then speed up to get back off the shoulder for cutbacks when the wave flatten out.
I had no issues with turning and compare this as being heaps better than my old XBow 2 and killing the XBow 1 by miles.
I must admit I am a little confused about some reports and feedback, But I really think it is a great wave riding kite. Thoose who have pully issues should see Reg about his fix.
