Out of these:

Ozone Catalyst, Ozone C4, Cabrinha Vector, Cabrinha Chaos, Slingshot RPM

I think the C4 is the true "maccas" of all kites.

The most seen, the most sold, the most common, the most people get and use (whether it's suited to them or not is another question).

For cyclists: think of Giant bikes. They are absolutely everywhere. So which kite is the same ya reckon?

All depends on where you kite.

Heard a good analogy yesterday.. North kiters are like boogy boarders.

as with anything, all about the rider, if your a cyclist then a better engine (effort) will make a bigger difference than another $5K of carbon. If you kite then training and time on the kite plus pushing yourself is something that will not be changed just by buying a c kite.
I have seen guys shred on every kind of kite.

IF you are looking to say something is overly "common" or "available" im not sure what you want to achieve. In my view the good side of a readily available kite brand is getting support/parts from greater places.
My view is that people tend to ride what is available/what the people they ride with are on because of support/knowing how something goes in their local conditions.

Finally someone who got it!

Yes, I meant to ask, what is the most common kite out there and why? I thought that was a simple enough question, but it seems Ozone fanbois out there just can't take a little jab at their precious purchases.

Oh and i forgot to add Cabrinha Switchblade to the list, but I think the C4 "wins" anyway.

North's are still in fashion, especially the ones with the big V on em. Probably close to the most common kite where I ride.

I should have finished my analogy to make it more understandable - North kiters are like boogy boarders.. they hunt in packs..

..one day out with about 6 other kiters. I had the only kite which wasn't orange and blue with a big V on it.

Interesting kazan you say C4's are the most common. Do you know what year they are? I dont see many at all anymore at my local - mainly some older models pre 2013 here and there.

Yes, at the pond in particular. Could possibly even narrow it down to Vegas's..Used to see alot more Ozones, now not so much, mainly Zephyrs. Get a few Wainmans still.

On my downwinder stretch in the waves only about 15 mins drive away, most common probably Reo's.

Sounds like Ozone C4's are the Maccas of kites, and North Evos are the KFC of kites.

Still don't get the maccas thing. Surely the bike example you used in the opening post would of been a better heading for this thread.

I noticed heaps of slingshots on the east coast QLD. The biggest % would have north/ozone in WA. So it seems.

Yeah it definitely depends on your location and which shop is around. Go up to Cairns and it's North kites as far as the eye can see, go around my local and it's mainly Ozones, down the gold coast it's Cabrinhas all depends what the local shop is peddling the hardest. I don't think the macca's analogy fits as it implies cheap and ubiquitous, which with kiting it's more the expensive ones that are the most popular. You could say BWS gets close, relatively cheap and you always see one around in a pack.

IMO
you'll always find the most of a brand near the shop that sells it.
The Cab shop in Perth is near the river so we don't see tonnes of them doing coastal down winders.
The nearest shop sells Ozone and North
Also we've struggled to get a Best distributor here for quite a few years so they are rare.

Norths are expensive so some guys figure they must be great kites and buy them without even demoing one.

C4's are rare here. C kites are for flat water tricks , so maybe that's your area local?
Prob the most common kite this season was the Ozone REO - wave kite, downwinders, local shop.

I hate Big Macs so I demoed 10 different kites and bought the Ocean Rodeo RAZOR, cause it suited my style.
It's taken me 8 years to stop following the crowd and get the courage to do my own thing.
