Hi, I'm looking for a kite to continue practicing after the first lessons. I need to get something budget (eg. second hand 04/05 model). Can anybody recommend aa suitable one? And can anybody say something about the 2004 RRD 13 metre Z Type and its suitability for beginners?

Thanks,
Tobi

Tobi,
Pretty much all the freeride kites are a good choice. 5th line, bows and slingshots diesel help make relaunching easy. Just try to try a few. If you want something that lasts and you don't mind a bit more "practice" go straight for a more advanced kite. Main issue will be it may take you some more time to relaunch, but you'll be all the better for it. Relaunching (without the 5th line) is a skill we all need IMHO.
Can't help you out with RRD.

get something cheap, because you will most likely giving it a good flogging. I can't belive how cheap kiting is these days, compared to when I started. You should be able to get something for 300 and under on
this site, kill it, then worry about bows, and all that bull**** which it is by the way. I could have a great session on pretty much any kite, sure there were some pigs in the past, but it shouldn't be an issue for a first kite.

forget about the myth of the great beginners kite . It will only hold you back!
buy a good kite, it will only take you a couple of extra sessions to learn to "deal" with it, but then you'll learn heaps faster and your kite will last you a couple of seasons at least. Biggest selling kite in the world -- Best YARGA and under a thousand bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
