Saw this while I was in the USA. Quite a nice concept for those who want a wind meter. Plugs into the headphone socket of an iPhone or Android device. Quite nice because it covers average wind speed, gusts etc. Not sure if they are available in Aus yet as I saw them at one of the kiteshops in Charleston, SC.

Available now in Australia from all good kite stores and distributed nationally by Kitepower.

I think most experienced kiters can gauge wind speed but I reckon it's a must have for newbies because the beacons don't give the right readings for beaches (+- 10 knots depending on the beacon). It also has a nice app to send out emails to torment your friends on the wind speed.

Yeah. I Have a wind meter in the car and never use it. But that device looks cool.
I have calibrated my eyethometer to 5 different wind settings.

Actually 7.

Do something else
15m time. bugger give me more wind
13m time oh,,, getting better
10m time oh yeah.
8m time... wind and swell charging
6m crazy time.
I think I might die. lets leave it for another day.
