Heya guys, I really want to get an Ozone Reo cos i'm loving my directional thus far and want to hit the surf more.

However, There is a local kite shop that is really great for kite-surfing in victoria, and i would like to support him. He sells North Neo's. Can anyone compare the two?

If the neo is just as good i'll get it, looking for Actual users of both kites. Not your typical dikhead seabreeze opinion posts. Also i reckon we should start using real names and stop hiding behind avatars. We're all grown ups. (new thread perhaps)

Agree'd ask for a demo, maybe even try demo both one after the other on the same day, in the same conditions etc....
then you can compare the bar, kite, which one feels better to you, etc....
I know nothing about norths, and very little of ozone reo's so cant really give you any info.

So why not get a REO from a Vic shop "that is really great for kite-surfing in victoria"?

Dustin (kite manager at SHQ) rides REOs and has them in stock and for demo. Enjoy!

Sure! but don't be suprised if you buy the kite if you rip it in two!
People trashing demo's is the reason I cant demo a C kite in perth!

the prostiitute theory should allways apply when demo'ing.

You screw it you pay for it.

Kim at geraldton surf and sail has ridden the 2 , rides the neo so id say he likes the neo, he really attacks the wave so maybe the lower power of the reo was a factor,

Cheers Cauncy, 8m Reo was a nice wave kite, I rode last years model a few times. Quite fluttery when making it work, a bit down on power for me and was a bit unstable in the wind holes. For me the Neo is great, super impressive drifter, same stubborn won't-fall-out-of-the-sky North attribute. I mainly ride the 7m, good kite speeed, not as stable (3 struts) and won't point upwind as good as the super grunty Rebel but I prefer the Neo over the Reo.

I totally agree with GSS. They may have fixed the fluttering and lack of power on the 2013. but the Neo is nice.

I know you didnt ask this but the Bandit 5/6 are fantastic for waveriding and better than both Reo and Neo in my opinion.

Each to their own? Spent much time on a REO or a Neo mike? I've spent time on a bandit and a REO and can safely say ( in my opinion) they aren't even in the same league in the surf.

Neo is definitely on the demo list.

Owned the first Reo for a year and bandits the last year +. Although the Reo was fast, it's fluttering is very uncomfortable and lacked power. The bandit drifts equally well, is more powerful, has a bigger range and only turns marginally slower than Reo.

It's good we all like a different feel or we'd all be riding the same kite like a load of clones.

I would be interested to ride the 13 Reo though to see how it feels.

I'm 85 ish kg 10 mt neo does me fine 14 -20kns on a surfboard prefer to change down to the 7 mt 20kns and above and have the 5 mt which is good 28 and above , the 10 is quite remarkable in light airs for a c shaped kite it likes to be sheeted out and u will find the power develop, they are super stable, and basically fly themselves not the quickest relaunch but will stay in the sky longer than most kites sheeted out hands free,I find they drift well un hooked with out touching the depower and don't yank you off the wave, the 24 mt lines are perfect for maximizing available wind they loop without consequence ,the build quality is typical of north ,very good, haven't ridden the reo so can't comment but n comes before r so it must. Be gooder the 2013 hasn't been released so do your self A favor and pick up a 2012 model at superseded price Geraldton surf and sail have a plenty best kites I've ever owned yewwwwww

From the post above...

I know Kim personally a great bloke and has ridden most of the surf style kites as that is what he does!...spoke to him not long ago and he was very happy with the Neo.

North stuffed their marketing of this kite, they are starting to get it right.

I also know that a lot of Marg river crew are now on these.

Must be something in it...

It would be between the Reo and this kite if I was surfing on a kite, but alas I don't see the point.
