huh... north said they were going to keep the red trailing edge on all kites from now on so you can recognise a north kite.. obviously changed their mind.. i kinda like the off cuts look though.. seems not many share my opinion :)

Its called recycling from last years/this years (I'm confused what year are we in anyway?) unsold kites and the factory next doors scraps .It should be called the eco vegas and they should include their recycling credentials in it's promotion

Doesnt look like the normal North quality construction at all.
Looks more like a home-made kite.

i really dont get why people froth on the vegas so much, it's such a poos kite in so many ways, looks gay, flies gay, feels gay... people must only ride them because their heros ride them and their heros ride them because its the only company that would pay them enough. sooooooooooooooooooooooo many better kites out there.

Because one pump is crap!
Especially on a performance kite..... like driving an automatic race car.

North bought it out back in 05/06 also, and just like with slingshot the valves leaked and it was not received well, so they stopped it on the performance model, and just put it out occasionally on the lesser models.

I would not be surprised if in fact it is released without the one pump - as the 08 vegas had some kites with and some without one pump... the ones with had valve issues.

It also weighs the kite down which makes a noticeable difference in light winds

Since you are using that automatic race car analogy, I assume your kiting skills are seriously top notch. Maybe one pump systems account for 0.5% less slack when going for triple passes?

He asked y the Vegas hasn't had 1 pump yet, and that's my opinion. It's obviously built for people who can't be bothered pumping up 5 or 6 valves right?
It still is extra stuff hanging off a performance kite, so it's something else that will fail in time & it weighs the kite down.

I know as I owned a 1 pump Vegas and it was a pain in the A&^$ when it started failing.

As far as the weight goes, my 12 Vegas only weighs 3.6kg with 5th line fitted . I would imagine that 5 extra valves, 5 clips & 5 sets of rubber hose would weigh more that 50G. Either way if I could feel it .... you all will.

last years new valves in the struts where good although at first i thought they where a bit crap, they hold and seal better than previous models, seems odd to change for change sake, that is kite companies for you i guess if it is true they are going one pump, i had no strut leakage for a week when i rolled up the kite and left the struts up in the bag which is faster to pack up and also inflate than letting individual struts down or pumping up in single inflation -you can leave the struts up on single inflation but defeats its purpose , individual inflation also has less hassles for the life of a kite IMHO.

I had a side tube deflate my 3 main bladders when the one pump non return valve failed...... yeah it threw me off a bit, but I was still able to throw down some awesomeness, purely because the vegas... like chuck norris, doesn't need bladders to fly.


they should leave the one pump to the lazy seat harness wearing bowmen of our day.........

not a fan... liked the look of the 2010 shouldve kept that :) thats why i love wainman because they fly well and every year the design looks great ;)

Any changes on the bar?

My 2 cents:
1. One pump: North is trying to make it more appealing to regular riders, but one pump is a threat if you crash the kite too many times.

2. I was reluctant to buy the Vegas 2011 because of the teenager style colors, but my experience with the 2009 model was so good that I thought the colors would be a silly reason for not buying a great kite. It turns out, that after a couple rides I started liking the colors. In a crowded place it is nice to be easily distinguished.

3. I had partnership in a kiteshop back in Brazil and tried all models from Best, Fone, Flexifoil, North and since the Vegas 2009, I find the kite feeling a way better than the other models. It is simply easier do make powered unhooked tricks with this kite. So, try it before making assumptions based on visual stuff.

4. If I had to complain about North, the colors and lack of one pump are nothing compared to other problems.
- Weak lines. If you crash a north with any other brand, the north lines will lose. It still happens with 2011's
- Excellent construction, but with a **** tissue. I can't complain about that in the 2011 model because it is only 4 months old. However, the other models ended full of micro holes due to usage.

- The bar is way to fancy for a freestyle kite, to many plastic and metal parts to get your fingers hurt when unhooking/hooking. (on the other hand if you think about design and material quality the bar is great)
