Hi,

My Name is Frank, and I am new in this Forum...and I am from Germany.
but I like to read your topics....its little diffrent to our Forum, it teches me a little english, and you all are not "north blind".
Kite since 5 years...mostly PL Kites...but maybe I change to the "darkside"

once again:

does anybody know the big differences expect of the big depower from the Tribal. What is low end für 75 kg with doortyp Board. Whats about turningspeed? Whats about flystability in gusty Winds....a.s.o.

thanks

Hi Frank,

The 15m Tribal will probably be more user friendly to you than the M6.
However the gain in bottom end performance over a 13m Tribal is only about 2kts.
This is due mainly to the extra speed of the 13m supplying a bit more power.

In real terms it will be only the amount of working the kite at the bottom end that will be the difference.

Also the 13m is so much more fun to fly everywhere else in the range.

At 75kg even an 11m may give you the range you want with even more fun.

At 75kg and a wide board a 13m may get you in the fun zone around 13kts. a 15m around 11kts. but under 12kts wind is pretty crap. An 11m may have you cranking in 16kts.

The extra depower of the Tribal is good for edge control in jumping and for wave riding but a nuisance if you let the bar out during a jump. As far as outright topend when compared to an impact I have noticed a slightly better control with the Impact. The tribal at its extreme top end has an on off power when you have to ride at full depower and bar way out. The Impact seems smoother and a bit more predictable. these of course are in wind strengths so far above the manufacturers recommendations, that it's ludicrus to talk about it.

Good one Frank,

Try and read other posts on Tribals here.

It takes a couple of sessions to dial in your timing for jumps, and you only send the kite to the top of the window then sheet in for huge jumps.

Tribals like lots of pressure in LE. and not to be oversheeted.

Symptoms of oversheeting are slow turning and sharp increase in bar pressure.
Symptoms of low LE pressure is wing tip curling if you over send kite to jump.

Stop&Go is very subtle and you need to wait for it to happen. Check it out by have plenty of depower pulled in to start with the move kite slightly to one side of window then be brave and let bar go.
That's BOTH hands off. once you see it work then fine tuning the depower strap will fine tune the Stop&Go.

People over here connect C/loop to back of ute and go and launch the kite then walk back and hook in and GO.

ENJOY

Hi Tony

Thank you for your tips...I allmost understand everything, but once.
What means oversheet???? Is that wrong adjustment or wrong kind to fly the Kite?

I hope I ll get it soon to test this amasing Flyingmachine

Oversheet is stalling the kite by pulling too much on bar.

also called choking the kite.

too much angle of attack changes the aerodynamic efficiency of the aerofoil and it becomes a sheet.

You may try cruising along with bar fully in then slowly let bar out.
If you feel a surge in forward propulsion then that is the max angle of attack for max power, for those particular wind conditions.
