Anyone got a reasonable head to head of kites in the open c style category?

Kites I'm thinking of:

Ozone c4
Naish park
Slingshot rpm
Hadlow I'd
Etc

Any constructive thoughts or links to some decent commentary would be good

Interested to see what makes a kite "best" in category

The 4 kites you have named could not be more different, especially depending on which year we are talking about, then add in personal preferences and your topic is way too general.....I personally like the C4 but hate the Park and found the RPM I tried a couple of years ago terrible, which is bizarre seeing how popular they are, never tried a Hadlow though.....

It's 2013 so let's talk current year, if you look at the manufacturers blurb they are all pitched at a similar market and all talk about a swept or open c -shape

Yep I do, was actually just looking for some technical discussion on what makes a good kite in this criteria given that I think the wainmans pith to a similar consumer market but with a very different style of kite

Yeh okay. not sure the 2013 C4 should be in your list for similar markets. Naish Park/Wainmen all rounders, the new C4 is as close as they have got to a traditional C but of course nothing like say a fuel.

I wouldn't be comparing a C4 and a wainmen even with the wainmen bridal less.

But for most riders there is enough C characteristics in a wainmen to explore this style of kiting.

Ok agreed ozone have repositioned both kites this year, I've not used a c4 since 2011s so it's probably a bit skewed

I guess my question really is, what are people aiming for in the all round category where the focus is flat water more than the wave side of things

Okay Craig now you need to define what you mean by all rounder on the flat. My definition of all Rounder is based on it's ability in the surf as well...of which the wainmen, it's surf ability is it's forte.

so All rounder on the flat...? I suppose there are 'gentle' to 'hard core' C kites, from a 'splash' of C with other DNA hybrids to hardcore C's like the Fuel.

Bit of C, bit of delta, bit of Bow, pulley to pulley-less with associated bridal configurations, low to medium to high aspect...all built into different profiles to achieve a target performance criteria and indeed a market. Now add in the variations of 'flat water' and the board of choice to compliment the kite and the kiter's ability and projected ability...

Your question Craig seems to open ended to me... maybe not, but that's the vibe I'm getting anyhow...

North Neo, there's no two ways about it!

The majority of those kite listed are not C kites. They are SLE kites. C kites are Naish Torch, Slingshot Fuel, Airush Razor, Flexifoil Hadlow Pro etc. Even between these C kites there are lots of differences i.e. depower, turning speed, wind range.

Otherwise you are probably comparing ever kite that exist and I think when you make comparisons, you need to be more specific.
