I have been holding off on putting up a review of the new bar, as I haven't tested a solution to a issue I had on the new bar!!! Heres my first thoughts. No affiliation with any brand.
C4 bar
Pros
* ATB swivel gone
* easy flag system works ------- but has new potenial issue in QR
* Lines are the same quality, 20m + 3m standard
* the bar floats now
* its a lot lighter- really noticeable
* soft ends
Cons
* The NEW farking QR caught the flag line --- this could have gone really bad, potentially worse than the C3 issue because the kite will spin, I have been emailing switch and they have assured me its just to do with the line not being tightened at the factory properly, WTF!!! they have sent me a doc on how to tighten it properly but it still slightly catches!!! bottom pic - 5kgs on flag line didn't pull through CL
* QR will be harder to reset on water, its got a little flicky RECESSED latch that keeps falling back, you have to flip it upside and to side to set
* High V option is not high at all, it is not high enough for use on a north kite, almost right length if you were to swap that line upside down
* bar finish does not appear as high quality the C3
* no line stopper - I like doing deadmans
* trim strap is thin and looks cheap
Neutral
* Softer grip on bar, feels like a late model north but isn't as nicely finished, I prefer the C3 grip
* PU rope slides nice but I prefer ropes, never had an issue with C3, only normal rope and bar insert wear
* as toppleover mentioned its bigger than the C3 but I didn't measure it
* the bar wrap seams looks like it will peel easy- hasn't yet
* I prefer the old bar centre piece and trim cleat
* short leash is standard with
* line holder lackys don't retract back in like the C3 bar
It looks a lot like a cab bar now, completely different to the C3 bar, feels like it should be cheaper than the C3 (poor finishes, wont affect use just looks crap). It has potential to be a great bar for price but have no confidence in the new QR, I will mod my C3 bar with the C4 parts when they become available, if I keep the C4 bar - the PU and QR have to go!
