preferred style is in the surf, but every now and then i pretend to be cool and do some wakestyle, yeah!

The furia is smooth, fast and predictable(i read that in the magazine).

ok, no bs review from me.

All i will say is that I like the kite, its perfect for me for 18-35knots if i swap between twintip and surfboard. Its quick, very very quick and has multiple adjustments if you would like to slow it down blah blah. I hear its used in schools to teach beginners on the slowest setting. I flew it on the fastest setting and i would hope the schools don't teach like that.

Changing direction on the surfboard is super fun, as are cutbacks bottom turns etc as the depower is massive. The grenade stopper can be set close to the bar for a full power C feel or if you slide it a few cms you get a traditional bow. So i can either tow on in to the wave, push the bar away and surf OR i can power up the kite, lock in the stopper and smash the lip(or my face)

Unhooked is a dream and more importantly i have found a 7m kite that the missus can use in safety and then as the wind picks up the kite will be mine all mine.

Kite is a hundred and fifty bucks cheaper than the all conquering REV and imho is a match if not better. Well the bar certainly is leaps and bounds, the kites are probably even stevens.

Furia edges the competetion on total package for me, although i wouldn't be unhappy owning ANY of the kites i have tested this year. Its almost down to colours this year..... whats next year? a windsurfer?

The quality of the kite is undeniable and the three of us that flew it, one bloke 88kgs, one 76kg and one 66kg all used the kite in 25-30knots. All loved it and either own one are are planning on buying one. Don't know about the bottom end as i don't plan to kite in light winds on it. Top end for me will easily be 35knots on a surfboard, wakestyle chimps will probably be able to push that even further.

I have only flown a furia 9m once in light winds so didn't bother reviewing that, if your buddy is getting it for a good price then its probably worth it.

As for pimping? well thats up to the individual, seen as i have demo'ed near on ten kites this year then i guess i must be pimping ALL of them

The Rev is a good kite, but the entire package. i.e. bar/lines/kite/bag/price/dealer doesn't add up to a complete package for my personal circumstances. If i had loads of dosh and could afford to buy entire kite quivers for me and the burd then maybe things would be different.

Thats just my personal opinion and many of my mates have entire quivers of revs, bleat on about how good they are and why haven't i got one... etc etc each to their own.

If your mate buys the 9m and doesn't like then get him to PM me. I would gladly buy a used 9m if its in good condition and with in my budget.

Sorry mate, I weren't calling you a pimp, I just wanted a honest review because I havent had any experience with Takoon, and only know 1 person who has. He didnt give the kite a good review but I reckon that was because he is used to grunty kites.

What is the RRP on a new 9m Furia?

I have owned multiple takoons/slingys/wipikas/cabrinahas/naishs over the last 6yrs or so and each kite has brought much happiness.

Takoons are not as well known in oz so intial purchase price is cheaper. I tend to get a bunch of mates together and buy 5 or so kites at a time to get a better deal.

I don't know what "one" kite would cost. Speak to Aaron Stonker @ stonker kites to see what he can work out for you.

I own a 11m furia and mainly ride it with a 6.1" toe in surfboard,i'm 6.3" and 100plus kgs, i get going in 18knots up. One of the best kites i have ever owned in 7 years of kiting [owned slingshots,cabrinas,naish,etc].The kite flys really quick and build as good as any of the top brands. I don't normally write in , and don't normally pimp a kite , just impressed with this kite [have a 10 and 14 rebel ,great kites as well,just like furia in waves,].One thing is kite likes to be pumped up hard and play with the settings to suit you. cheers tez

gruezi, i got mine from Aaron at Stonker in VIC , sent it up to Newcastle within 3 days and did a real good deal , saying he wanted people to try them around AUS. Depending on what you weigh , i'd say a 9m would be good for average weight. for light wind love the 14m rebel at my weight [100kg with no beers, i'm about 110 at the moment].I'd say try as many kites as you can demo ,their's alot of good kites in 2008. HOPe this makes sence becuase i'm going to the fridge to get me last beer. see ya

one question though, if got a 2008 Rippehr from EH, but i were i kite its very gusty, and i was thinking of selling my kite and then buying a takoon Furia, but i have no idea how much it cost... Thanks
