Yesterday I got to ride the TB Haura. (I now own it, sorry Mars, you need to get some more in you not getting this 1 back)
20 knots choppy conditions with some good waves out back.
My usual boards..... Nobile 555 135 and 145 and underground FLX138.
100kg, 13m Ozone edge.
Firstly the board looks awesome, its almost a piece of art, nice laminated wood
grain finish with black and silver tribal graphics, it would look good hanging on the wall. Also each board has a unique id number with a personalised first owner plate.(Very cool)
The shape is designed to give you good performance in the surf whilst still being able to deliver in the flat. The board is well made and well finished.
Pick up the board, it is very light. ( It comes with a 1 year warranty against breakage on the water)
Footpads look the part but I found them a little slippery, but not so much as to really be a problem.
Footstaps look great and are really comfy easiest to adjust of any board I have tried. Require no tools to adust or fit...... plenty of placement options on the board for the foodpads including nuetral for surf riding.
I have been out of action for 3 weeks and no sore feet after riding this board for a couple of hours yesterday.
The fins look hot and work really well. Again you have the option of setting up for surf ....3 fins to the back and 1 in the centre on the front foot or conventional. I rode it set up conventional.
Ride .... fell in love after 100m's. Smoothest board I have riden by a long way. Flex was perfect for the conditions. I rode out through the shore break no hint of digging in and not 1 splash in the face. This board just eats the chop which allowed me to use more speed which translates to better boost!.
The board does not bite like the nobile in the turn but is smooth, similar to the underground but never come close to sliding out. The turn and is still very direct and the recovery after landing was really positive but again smooth.
The pop was excellent. I prefer a slightly longer board because of my weight, when I pushed with my back foot again the pop was smooth and probibly better than I get from the 555.
Great for boosting I was able to develop more speed than normal and as it carves nice and smooth my set up was much better than usual. Landings were soft with the board soaking up the impact well.
Toe side... prefect as you would expect with the shape and width of this board.
In the waves carved really nicely no slip on hard turns nicest carve transitions ever.
Upwind was good but my nobile wins here hands down.
I really enjoyed riding his board. It is a very cool, very cruisey board to ride and is going to help big time to improve my kiting.
3 other guys rode the board (all well above intermediate level).... all said they liked it, comman feedback was
very smooth.
carved well.
very dry ...no splashing in the face.
excellent toeside.
very light.
looks great.
