Anyone put stick on foot straps onto a surf board to kite in waves? Do they stay on? I'm thinking about putting some on my old tough light board that I don't use for paddle surfing anymore.

If your deck is not flat, ie caved in from foot dents or age then the stick on footstraps can be a bit hit and miss. I have been routing T-nuts flush into the deck of my boards with chop-strand and matting and don't have a problem. I use the Predator strap which causes more leverage than a standard strap so the inserts have to be strong.

Cheers I did buy some Square type plugs that can be glassed in so I'll keep the pressuries in mind and if they peel off give the classing a go.

Actually I haven't got much to contribute either because I have never tried stick on straps but a mate had some NSI ones (I think) that came with quite large pads with 3M adhesive, that seemed to do the job ok.
As long as the board is thoroughly clean and hasn't got to many pressuries (and being a tufflite I'm guessing it hasn't) I think they would be fine.

I too dont have much to add in terms of advice or experience but we do have them in stock at KSS Scarbs.
Sold a couple of sets and havent had a complaint - but also havent heard how well they went?
At close to $200 (from memory right now) they are not cheap!!
If its an old klunker ur fitting up as a starter board for 'surfing' I'd go the insert route. Easy as and cheap.

Had the stick on inserts in grip a few years back on a travel board. I think the brand was NSI.
-I think I paid $140 for front and back; so it was expensive at the time compared to grip.
-You have an arch pad on each set of grip to accomodate the screw block, so if you have one for your front foot it's not so good for paddle surfing
-It is a VERY small screw grab, so you have to be careful not to crossthread. I wouldn't reccomend if you are removing your straps often
-They stick really, really well. I had a lot of trouble ripping off a grip as I didn't like it to paddle surf
- If you want to go down that road I would rout in inserts if your board isn't an epoxy pop out; or just buy the stick on thread block only and fit your own grip if you aren't going to paddle often .

A guy sells these ones for about $30 ea on trademe here so should be able to source there might grab some myself for an experiment.
The whole unit is self adhesive.



They look a bit basic strap wise but strap is removable so can use just the pad or maybe retro a better strap.

I dug around and have some left over pieces of grip with inserts if you want them. Have put them in Buy & Sell $30 for the lot.
