have the 2015 model and wanting to upgrade.. anyone recommend any alternative brands with tapered surf outline, lighter weight and maybe slightly flatter rocker for more speed?

Could look at the NHP carbon version. Has at least tapered toe side rail. Has rocker but for some reason is a bloody fast board with insane grip. And yet is really forgiving in the chop due to the rocker.

I could go into the technical details why but I'm obviously just writing this to follow your obvious message to the tard in the house. Look into it.

But that aside Your legs will break before the edge does. Its sits more on the freestyle side than the tronic but is not a bad board for Powered slashing wave style when needed.

Always a compromise. No board does it all.

the tronic is a really decent all rounder all being said so don't let this tosser put you off it.

Another way to get more speed is to look for a board with similar rocker but more concave. AKA the nomad above or themako.

The increased concave gives a flater curve across the water line that make the board efficient yet still smooth if you retain the rocker.... .. . . . . . .

If the nomad board has reasonable rocker high concave and good tip flex that will be the holy grail of wave TT's.
One thing the mako lacks is good tip flex. Its stiff as ****!...

PS its real hard to get good tip flex on a high concave board. The concave stiffens the board up considerably.

Nah it's got as much traction as your legs can give and yet landings are soft as it has decent flex and rocker. But it is still a freestyle TT with a twist.

Still think the tronic will tick the pure wave riding box more. But the NHP will kick its ass on the flat or even between wave sets on the flat to build line tension for boosting.

The nomad will kick both asses for pure out and out carving in the waves.

Its always a comprimise there there is no holy grail. With one handeth one giverh with other taketh.

If there are no negatives. Only gushing statements of perfection. This years model is sooooo much better than last years..... this is sooooo much better than everything else.....

A review that has some credence will also state the negative or potential ways to improve. EG great for slashing waves but its a little power hungry or It can slash up a storm but doesn't load and pop on the flat as well. Holds a tone of power but isn't a light wind charger.....

This nomad board is awesome. But its still missing a couple of features to make it even better. The rails look sharp edged. Rolled rails make for a smoother rail to rail carve. As good as it is in the waves wont be as good as if it had offset footpad positioning. The reality for wave riding is that the closer your rear foot is to the fins the better/tighter carve you can make on the wave faces. The harder you push a bottom turn.

If nomad optioned those 2 things and option for quad fins on one end they would have the a stunning TT/mutant option.
