Better than the monk Cauncy?

Main difference in my opinion is amount of pop. Bronq pops better than Monk.

I love the monk, but what else do you have to say about the bronq.
More pop sounds good.

Yeah Cauncy is on point, it's as smooth as a Monk with way more performance potential. Lighter, more energy under foot, and no loss of that Shinn buttery feeling. Definitely demo if you can. We have the 136x42 size on demo. Price is on point with just about every other carbon board on the market and slightly less than a lot of them.

Sure it has similarities to the monk
But it does everything the monk does with more speed, power and precision, the harder you ride the more responsive it became, it's incredibly light and you instantly feel a spring in your step, switching stances was a big standout , absolutely effortless , even on a full rail flat strap, landings are much smoother, rides like your on a track even in some of the choppiest conditions but instantly releases with input, we rode it in some pretty powered but poor water conditions and it excelled, straps and pads felt great, very locked in feel, it has a very sleek look and superbly finished,
One thing that's very apparent is the large amount of concave and rocker
If your an aggressive rider that loves to slash and hack at full speed then it's a big step up in performance from the monk and worth the extra cost,
One thing to add IMHO it needs a fast powerfull kite to really appreciate the board

Power hunger is a good question. The sizing suggested on the Shinn site seems pretty large. Anyone compared wind range/board size/rider weight?

Good point but if your looking at it that way then IMO you'd be better looking at another board, it's a board to be ridden in good winds taking it out in marginal conditions would be a waste of time,

For sure. That said when we received the boards I thought "****, that's a lot of rocker...". Other than it being smooth and having good pop you couldn't really tell.. it didn't struggle. I rode it in marginal winds with the Zepyhr and thought I'd be pushing water and I wasn't. That said I'm used to wakestyle boards with boots and I've been riding for 11 years so my light wind technique is pretty good so take it with a grain of salt. As Cauncy said it's going to excel powered up.

What size did you demo Cauncy?

Keep hearing reviews that the best characteristics are very much size to weight dependent. E.g. the rocker is built to work properly for a correctly sized board and it doesn't work quite as well if you try and size up for a light wind version. So big guys froth over the bigger size but the smaller guys don't seem to like it but love the smaller one.

I'd agree with that, I rode the 135/41 at 84kg
In winds just above 20knts on a 7 then as it increased I swapped to my 10, a bit arse about tit but I was keen to try it a bit underdone then overpowered, it was when overpowered that it excelled, honestly need to consider your conditions when choosing any board, we get very strong winds as a rule through our season, and I like to ride aggressive , not saying it wouldn't do the job cruising around on the bronq , but it'd be like riding a high performance car in a school zone

Hi Peeps,

Thought I'd pipe in and correct cauncy (Sorry mate, thanks for the kudos ).

We were once Australian Kiteboarding School (AKS) and also Stand Up Paddle Perth but we changed the name back in 2013 to better reflect the full range of sports we now cover. As well as AKS has served us, it didn't feel right when dealing with electric skate and bike gear, nor stand up paddle boards and gear.

We are now called Action Sports WA situated at 10/30 Erindale Road, Balcatta (Just off the freeway). Kiteboarding is still our main gig as well as a host of new bits and pieces which we love to ride.

On recommendation of a friend in the industry, we approached Mark at Shinn about becoming a dealer as we had struggled to find a brand which had a different "feel" to the North and Core boards we have sold for years. Mark liked our game and after many emails and conversation, we placed orders. We have Shinn demo boards in : King Gee, Pinbot, Shinnster, Bronq and Monk. Stock should be on the shelf next week as it clears quarantine today.

By all means, we urge you to drop in and demo any of our brands new season gear. Remember when you come to grab a demo kite or board, you'll need photo ID and a credit card. You can then take the gear away for a few days until you have had a good ride on it. We want you to be confident in your purchases.

It may be worth ringing ahead 08 9240 8547 to make sure the kite or board is available before driving in to see us.
