Mr Shinn still likes his boards flat eh. Not so sure that it would work so well in slop or on downwinders. That thing looks like it's dead flat for the rear 2/3.

Very interesting board, but it looks like it is just way to limited to what you can do on it to be really successful. With the standard foot straps it can only be ridden one way(toeside back). there is no small fins on the front like a mutant so you cant ride it backwards. It doesn't look overly large so wouldn't suite real light winds. And if it was any good in the surf Mark would have had some footage of it.

I agree it would be a awesome board for a down winder in flat water not chop, and it looks like it would work well for going fast, not a full speed world record pace but fast enough for a local kiter. I also think it would suit someone that just wants to go out and ride with style not pushing the mainstreem tricks but again somewhere that it is flat.

Depending on price, i could see a few riders getting one just for the odd muck around session like you have on a skimboard. I wonder if they will come in bigger sizes for the big guys

that looks as ugly as a wavetray and less practical

The flex and rocker is explained like this:

Flex and Mould. The goal was to re create the comfort and smooth riding properties of the Shinn Flex construction in a directional package. Using a slightly modified version of the new Shinn FS mould we created maximum flex in the outer areas of the board whilst maintaining essential rigidity underfoot. The deep cut fish tail permits the fins to flex independently of each other providing constant grip and traction no matter the conditions.

no the toxic wave is made to ride in the waves, for a start its got a thruster setup and surf rails. It is also alot bigger at 158 x 44. It also has fins on the front for chicken gybing. This board from shinn looks unique from what I have seen, It looks too small and flat to perform in the waves, but looks fun never the less. I am not sure I would fork out a grand for one, but I'd like to have a ride.

in the vid it looked like he hit some very small chop in one bit and the board bucked around quite badly. Even ridding in the flat the nose looked like it wanted to plowe under the water.

I agree with benny, if the board cost a grand i wouldnt get one. But if it was on par with the nobile skim, price wise it may be ok. We get some conditions in whyalla that would suit that board for some fun i would like to try one.

The worst bit is, most of the flat water i ride in has some shallow bits and i don't think those bigger fins would cut it.

It all sound interesting, I have put my name down for a demo when they arrive.

It's funny that M Shinn was on the forum in the last couple of days to join in the strap v's strapless surf PKRA thread, it's a bit odd seeing as he is not a regular poster?. But he couldn't spend the time to answer some questions on his new board, Maybe M Shinn isn't who he is making out to be?
