what are the advantages and disadvantages of SLE kites?
also are the pullies more likely to break?

Lol. Common guys. At least reply instead of leaving red.
Stuff like this is bought up ever week or two. There is a TON of info if a quick search is done.
Most of it is all to do with personal preference. Read it all, and decide what you want.

Also, I have never seen a pulley break. I've heard of them breaking occasionally, but the lines also break occasionally.

lol wonnakite, you've had a lot of these lately

I have an SLE (Naish Boxer), and I've never had a bridle tangle or pulley snap, or any bridle tear

1.Decide what sort of kiting you want to do . Surf, wake style or free ride.
2. Go to a couple of kite shops a talk to the guys there they will have plenty of spare time at the moment. The SLE/ Doona argument is irrelivant at this stage of your kiting.
The point is, if you wanna wake style then your choice is different than if you wanna spend all you time in the surf or just jump high. This is for boards as well as kites. Coming from a wake board background you might even want to throw in bindings or footstraps into the decision making. The majority of kites sold are SLE by far, that should be enough information for someone starting out. Find a shop that is going to give you good backup and support, free lessons with every kite sold is a good idea. And will let you try before you buy. good luck.
