DYNABAR V5 is our more advanced study and development of sliding hook spreader bar system. As the previous versions, DYNABAR V5 is designed to make simple toe side and surfing in general. DYNABAR V5 fits any waist and seat harness and comes in 3 different models and two measures 11"-28cm (fits S/M harnesses) and 13"-34cm (fits M/L/XL harnesses), includes an ergonomic protection pad, elastic rope to replace the original when wore up or overused, steel ties and spare pulleys.

? DYNABAR FREERIDE is the best choice for kiters who would like to get the benefit of a sliding hook but still enjoying their preferred jumps. With this model you won't feel the difference from a standard spreader bar when riding front side but switch to toe side and enjoy the difference!




? DYNABAR PROWAVE is aimed to wave riders using directional boards and need less stability at the centre of the bar and more controllable sliding done by their body/harness position. The transition of the hook is immediate and there is no hard release of the hook from the central position because of the wide angle. This model requires more skill and more time to get used to.





? DYNABAR PRORACE is our contribution to design equipment aimed to this new discipline and we did the same by working close to some Italian kiterace riders. We designed our race board and DYNABAR PRORACE harness hook. The PRORACE model has no central 8mm steel bar where the hook slides, but a 6mm dyneema rope to guarantee enough stability of the hook in any position, as required during race: the rider can find his best body position in order to distribute weight on front/back leg as he wishes and also relax his back muscles. The transition during direction change is easier due to the sliding possibility. The PRORACE can be also used in freestyle and waveriding, but the hook is less stable compared to FREERIDE and the sliding is less quick compared to PROWAVE. PRORACE. This model is the best choice for windsurfing.





The ergonomic pad is made in soft neoprene covered with a stiff part to better distribute the load when pulling the harness webbings. It has three strong Velcro straps made of 3 layers, the middle strap can be fully removed to attach pull-down webbing available on some harnesses. DYNABAR pad comes in black, white and black&white colours to better fit your harness colours.

DYNABAR V5 can also be used in snowkiting, windsurfing and sailing.

They are in stock, all types.

When you see the work that has gone into the product, and the fact that it will outlast several harnesses, the price is very reasonable Robbo111, for example Slack is down to $1.79 per hour on his, thats not much to pay for what you get back, heaps easier toeside and heaps better freedom of movement and posture for waveriding.
Combined with a Course board the Prorace version will make riding those course planks a lot easier for sure.

I've been using one for approx 30-40hrs and will not be going back to a fixed hook spreader bar.

$179 thats probaly the cheapest thing that you will ever buy for kiteboarding. If they put them on a harness and sold them for $350 no one would question the price. My last spreader bar/handlepass system cost $150 but this thing seems to give a lot more value for $. You can see a lot of work goes in to them and they come with a spreader bar pad. Good work Im getting one for sure.

One Question, Can you get spare parts for them Pullys etc?

Yeah Waxman, all the parts are readily available, and when you purchase one it comes with a spare piece of bungee and the SS clips to attach it, and spare roller pin sleeves. There are enough spares included with each spreader bar to get you through a couple of hundred hours of use for sure.

I'm super stoked with mine, its by far the best accessory to come on the market. Designed by kiters for kiters!!

Still have version one and am happy with it.

The new ones will be better as they don't have the notches and the one with the rope is what Andrash made ages ago, no metal on metal which is nice.

Agreed with Steve on this being one of the best innovations in a while.

Looking at this, how stable is the hook when you're unhooked? As in, can you hook back in easily, or does the hook flop down making it impossible to hook back in?

Windsurfers have to unhook on every gybe, so it's critical that it's easy to hook in again once you've done the transition. If it's easy then a lot of windsurfers would jump at the chance of buying one

Neb...the 1st version had a bungie cord attached to the hook on each side so when not under load it goes to the ctr. of the bar.

I understand that, I was wondering if the hook stayed... erm... 'erect' as opposed to 'flopping down'... staying in the centre of the spreader makes no difference to this. Sorry for the analogy, best I could think of

The one that they said was best for windsurfers didn't even have the bungee either.

If you don't jump and only ride waves then get the Prowave, otherwise get the Freeride. I use the freeride and like the way the hook can centralise for jumps, but I have found it a bit "notchy" in waves. Someitmes I have to rotate my torso a bit to get it to slide to where the kite is pulling from, its no biggie and I'm used to it now and probably will just stick with the Freeride. Its super comfy on my WarriorII

A system such the Prowave with the metal spreader could do away with chicken loops. Why not just put a hook with a QR where we now have a loop on the bar and leave the spreader bar clean and maybe more space between it and the harness. looks super comfy for toeside, well done guys.

Every turn and change of direction the hook swung even to turn up into the wind to tack it depowered the kite by altering the trim.
I found this really off putting and uncomfortable to sail as your constantly readjusting.
My mate bought the free ride model and didn't have as much trouble as I did as it has a central niche to stop constant movement.
So be careful I don't recomend the wave model maybe the free ride is the go.
Does anybody want to buy a once used wave dyna bar?

Hi glennc,
we specify the different behaviour of DYNABAR models, the PROWAVE has a fast hook sliding and it takes more time to get used to it compared to FREERIDE model.
If you normally use the kite pull to turn then it will be difficult to control sliding, with PROWAVE you should always anticipate the kite turning with your hips and board. This style will allow you to keep a 90° angle between the sliding bar and the hook.
If you think FREERIDE could be better for you please contact our distributor Kitepower Australia and I'm sure they will help.

The freeride seems to be a good bar, It has the notches in 5 positions so if you want to stay central it just stays there until you need it to shift across without much effect on the kite.
It's also a lot easier on the lower back because there is a lot less body rotation

I have now had 4 sessions on the Freeride and comment as follows:

1. Does what it claims makes toe side easy and I use a seat harness

2. It is comfortable

3. Easy to adjust to the notchy movement

4. I have a question re the black plastic roller, this may sound silly but should it roll? I would expect yes.

However the screw on my Freeride is tight (this is how it was when I bought it) and I assume this is to ensure the screw does not come out so needs to be tight. The screw being tight clamps the roller, stops it turning, causes a flat spot and wears out the roller at a rapid rate.

Do you have a solution for this? Is this normal?


Other than that after 4 sessions in surf ( 8 hours +) all is good and I would recommend it to others once the issue with mine if fixed.

The roller on my bar rotates with finger pressure no problem , under load from the kite , i don't think so . 2 sessions it has a small flat spot which will only get worse and definitely stop the rotation of the roller i'm no engineer but a stainless roller on the stainless pin could be the go ?

The roller on DYNABAR V3-V4 was PA polyammide and on V5 is PA-GV polyammide reinforced with glass. When it wears turn it on the other side or replace it.
The roller doesn't roll well because the hook doesn't slide with a 90? angle compared to the main central rod, this is due to the kite's CL pull. We don't make it in steel because not rolling you have too much friction and you wears the central rod.
The PA roller wears in 50-60 hours (if you turn it 100-120 hours), the PA-GV wears in about 120-150 hours.

Last weekend wave session using DYNABAR PRORACE.

Sorry while the photos are good they do nothing in regard to my comments.

Also I would think with some sound engineering logic a much better solution is possible.

As stated my non roller roller has a flat spot after about 8 hours indicating a very short life plus it is now far from smooth in function taking into account the design.

Today I decided to try a modification and have now fitted a roller that rolls and has flexible movement to take into account changes in load direction. I have also fitted a spacer to prevent clamping and squeezing of the fitting - all from bits in my garage eg parts from sailing boat high load pulley, ss tube and fibre washers.

I have conducted some initial testing in light wind as this is all that was on today and so far so good. With the resourses Jaystore would have a professional result could be achieved.

One significant benefit from my effort is now a much smoother operation while still providing all the original features. My design also allows for easy washing out of sand etc.

I still need to test in stronger wind and for longer however I am convienced with the resources of Jay and use of the best materials (my costs to do this about $10) would improve this already great device to an excellent level.

I've been using the Freeride model (same as you purchased) for several weeks, and have only changed the plastic bush once. The design of the hook and the bar it slides on does not allow for the bush to rotate and it does not need to rotate to work, nor would it feel significantly smoother even if the bush did rotate.
I've done some experimenting too!
All I can say is that it takes diferent people differing amounts of time to get used to the feeling sliding of the hook.
Give yourself a bit more time to get used to it and then I think you will find that the minor issue of the bush wear and replacement are well worth the comfort and performance benefits of using the Jaybar spreader bar.
If you need more bushes let me know I'll send some in the post, FOC.

I have adjusted to the movement as stated in my posts above and stated the product does all it claims.

As everything improves in time I am suggesting better engineering in this area.

I should get to further test my modification in stronger winds this week however I am not hopeful of its life as I do not have the facilities to manufacturer correctly.
