I am looking at buying a kite and i have no real prior experience on a kitesufer so i was wondering if patching on the inflatable bit is a huge deal and will increase the chances of the kite breaking????

I assume you mean the bladder ? It is not a huge deal, easier than a bicycle. I can't say for sure but I doubt it would increase the chances of the kite breaking. Personally I have had to repair holes in the bladder just a few times in 12 years or so - if you kite on water holes in your bladders will be a rare thing. More often valves delaminate, usually on older kites and I have personally had better luck with some makes than others. In any case, no big deal to fix either.

Its a pain. Dont buy anything that needs fixing.

Agreed it is a pain, however you learn heaps when you have to do repairs.

also dose anyone have a spare pump i could buy amd know hwere i could get one???

No idea where you are but for the cheapest option for a pump I'd to head down to BiG W or Kmart and get an air mattress pump for about $12. The shaft will be plastic instead of metal and it will have lower quality seals but it will do in the short term for something cheap.

Don't waste your money on cheap pumps. Go to a kite shop and get a new North pump. I bought one recently and I was shocked how quickly and different they are to the conventional "yellow" pumps. The handles are bigger too so they won't hurt your hands when pumping big kites.

I agree. Get a foil kite like Ozone Chrono or HQ Matrixx or Flysurfer Speed 3. They are bomb proof just about.

Agreed, a decent pump is worth the extra few dollars but it looked like the OP is trying to do it real cheap. Probably better to spend a couple of dollars on a new cheapie than acquire someone else's secondhand rubbish pump.

I have had my bladder go on a few kites at the ends. Best solution is one of those vacuum seal a meal machines. This just zaps the ends with a bit of heat and no glue needed. Both kites still going after this repair.
