Has anyone tried both these kites and can offer (preferabaly unbiased)comparison?

nope but i can be sure that if you just ask about the rebel you will get a review easy!!!! i haven't tried a hyper type but i have compared the rebel to the slingshot link in both 4 line bridled or 5 line setups and a Naish Boxer SLE

hey qfmike, I havent seen any actual reviews of the naish boxer sle, what are your views on it?

Was also wondering how the naish boxer sle stacks up against the rebel in regards to depower, wind range, turning speed, and jumping?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im probably not a good person to ask because I think I am biased. I love the Rebel too much just like anyone else who has the Rebel. I tried the Boxer SLE but the winds were a bit too light for me to comment properly. I dont want to say too much unless I have a couple of good sessions on it with good wind. I think that is most fair.

The one pump is great, I set the pump to 6.2psi and it's the ultimate lazy mans rig. It looks like like a 'stronger' kite then other kites around. I think the Naish boxer has always been pretty bomproof like Slingshot Kites. I had the Boxer SLE on the 2:1 ratio. I have yet to try other seetings but it is super light on the bar. I personally dont like very light bar pressure because I find it a little hard to get used to. I like the feel of C-kites. Ill get back to you and put a post up when I ride it a few more times and Ill see if I can arrange for you to try one out yourself.

thanks for the info qfmike. Im very heavily leaning towards the rebel so i was hoping you could answer one more question for me.

I was thinking of getting a 10m/14m set up, but looking at the windranges on the north site there doesnt seem to be that much difference in low end between the 12 and 14.

Is it possible that the rebel 12m could be seen as a one kite quiver? Just wondering what sort of low and high ends you have been getting (and the sweet spot for the kite).

Well how heavy are you? im 81kgs riding a 06 135cm Naish Thorn. I wanted to get a 2 kite quiver for 2007. I was thinking C-kite 9/10m and a 14m but I thought why bother??? I got a 12m Rebel and I think this is just all I am going to need for a whole season. If it's less then 13kts then why would I even want to bother kiting???? Big kites are BORING. I am not used to kiting in over 28kts so I just dont go out of my skill level. If I lived in Maui then I'd probabloy be fine with wind like that but I dont live there.

A 12m Rebel is like a 14m C-kite and I think a 14m Rebel is like a 16m C-kite but the Rebel has better lower end and high end = bigger wind range. I get going in only 13kts and I've been in gusty 25-27kts...I hadn't even used much depower and with these kites you dont really feel the gusts like you do on a normal C-kite. I've heard alot of these newer kites dont offer too much extra power between say 14m and 16m. I think a good combination is a 12m for most people even if you are heavier then 80kgs and maybe a 9m. The 9m is probably going to be the most grunty of the lot. Let me know if you want one.

Hi I tried a 12m Rebel a couple of days ago, BAR pressure, what bar pressure, you cant even feel the kite because the bar pressure is so light, good and bad. You cant really feel the power either, its their but dont really feel it. Kite looks good but. Would only use one as a beginer.

If you think the Rebel's Bar pressure it too light??? have you tried the bar pressure of other kites? there are some kites out there that have like NO bar pressure!
