I am considering an 8m RPM or 8m C4 for my next kite and would like to know from anyone who has ridden both these kites. I ride a twin tip in small WA surf and am chasing a fast turning, good boosting kite. Any suggestions or comparisons on these two kites would be greatly appreciated.

i own RPMs. i've tried an my 10m RPM back to back with my mates 11m C4 for about 15 mins in about 15-16 knots so ill only comment on lowend

C4 is definitely more of a C feeling, it was slower turning and had to be worked abit for lowend. Whereas the RPM seems a more grunty kite like a hybrid. i thought the low-end of the C4 was slightly better. they are both great kites. the build quality and attention to detail of the C4 is amazing

the 8m RPM is my favorite size. its a quick kite, so can be worked for lowend. i wouldn't say the boosting is particularly good (it may just be my skills)

Hi Graf,

A bit hard to compare the two kites as they are so different. The RPM is a hybrid and the C4 is a 4-Line "C" kite.

The C4 8m is fast and boosts huge.

what else do you want besides fast turning and good boosting?

if you have narrowed it down to both these kites just demo them. demo demo demo

Own a 10m rpm and and pretty happy with it. good turning, unhooking and wave riding. Boosts are good when well powered due to turning, not the most naturally lofty kite. Tried 11m C4 good jumping when power with good natural float, slower than 10 rpm. Tried 8m C4 in strong wind, really fast, good for waves may need to slow down for unhooking/freestyle. Good boost, didn't go bigger than 11m c4, as it's so fast you wanna make sure you know how to fly it around. 8m rpm is a nice kite, i think new ones will boost a little better, keen to try. Another one i'd suggest is 8m bandit 4. Tried my mates and did the biggest boosts ever at our spot. great boost, float and very forgiving and so far is best allround kite i've ridden.

I've owned both...a 2009 8m RPM and a 2011 8m C4.

I love both kites but the c4 has the edge on the RPM for me...just.

The RPM is a more forgiving kite to fly in its usual wind range, the C4 goes big but requires a more experienced rider to get the most out of it. you really need to send it fast and have the timing right.

I say in the usual wind range because i found the RPM hard to handle in 28-30knots Where the C4s dont seem to feel over powered and fly consistantly across the full wind range.

The 8m C4 is faster than the 8m RPM without a doubt, low end wise i'd say the C4 requires 1 or 2 more knots...i could get going in 16-17 on the rpm but would need 18-19 on the c4.

The c4 8m is a kite to behold in 25 knots really has that c feeling and launches you off the water faster than anything i've flown.

The thing that sold me with the c4s was how fast(read fun) the larger sizes are...it can be a hard choice taking out the 11 or 8 in 20-22 knots because ease of control at the higher end and the huge boosts on the 11 in those winds.
