Again a Reo question.

while searching for information on Reo I found a thread on another forum that the Reo V4 5m? is a 'bad kite' in the serie. (in this thread, 3,4 other kites confirmed this)

V3 5m? was good, V4 5m? 'not good'.The V4 7m? was good too...

V4 5m? : Stalls too fast, not balanced kite, too fast, not enough power or too much power, ...

I bought a V4 5m? last winter (europe) but did not try it yet...
Are there reo V4 5m? users that can conform this statement that the V4 5m? is a 'bad kite' ... I would be really surprised that a brand like Ozone made a bad kite in a serie of good kites... i think this is just BS.

Yeah I've flown the 5m V4, its not a bad kite, its just as excellent as the rest. The designer is about 65kg and he definitely uses 5M a lot as they test at Le Morne in Mauritius, or WA.
I'd say that these negative reviews are coming from people that have used the 5m V4 in winds that are not actually strong enough for it. Or perhaps they are not that experienced and don't understand that the sea state in 35+knots has a lot of influence on how the kite flies and feels.
Perhaps their board is not suited to higher winds and rougher sea conditions?

I read both threads, nothing conclusive in any of them. It did seem like people were using them on gear that was not quite right for the kite though. Some were saying it was backstalling, this means lines are out of wack. Some were using the kite on 50 and 45cm bars, and the recommended size bar is 38cm.
I'd still say that the wind strength was too low or it was very gusty, and the gear they are using is exaggerating the problem.

I first only flew my 6m V5 on a 50cm. Found my 45cm bar was night and day in comparison.

Reo is a girly kite with no powah or for middle aged foilers

Jokes aside, if there was anything wrong with it I doubt you would find infos about it here. Try it yourself or just sell and get the v5/v3 if you can't be bothered.

Small single strut kites are the go. Handles high and low winds. 4m foil in 15-25knots surf in 25-35+

Nah ... I'd rather have the stability of a lightly built 3 strut kite than a flappy flappy one strut for foiling anyway.

To calrify...unless I really want to access the lower end wind boundaries...which I don't.

Flew my Reo V4 5m? in wind of 40 knots saturday... did even not touch the dewoper strap.Flew with my 45 cm bar and 23 meter lines.I'm pretty happy with this kite, and I don't think there is anything wrong with it... it is fast... very fast... but ok...It was set in the fastest turning mode (back lines at the back), next time I'll set it in the slower mode. And not grunty at all, even in those high winds you really have to move it to gain speed. But once the board is on speed, you can just park it...I never flew any other 5, so I cannot compare... but this kite works for me... i'll keep it... pfff.Nayy

Glad you have had a chance to test the kite yourself in its proper wind range. I have my 6m set on the slow turning tab on the trailing edge, and my 8m on the medium, 10 and 12 on the fast setting.
Not that many people get to kite in 40+ knots regularly so they are not used to how small kites behave, then combine that with a tendency of many people to blame their gear and not really look at whats going on.
