I saw a post on the general threads that had a pic of 2012 Peter Lynn le's. Does anyone have any info regarding these kites.

Hey mate i have a 9 and 11 in both the Escape and Fury,as yet i have only managed to get the 9m Escape out twice for about 3 hours per session,windrange is huge, turning is quick. boost and float are awesome,in the surf its great the kite just drifts along and pull is really consistant,over the six hours i have ridden the kite the wind varied from 14-36+ knots, the kite never felt lacking the whole time i was riding.
For a first gen LEI Peter Lynn have come into the market with guns blazing, the whole package is very impressive.
Love the bar system with the infinate swivel chicken loop and the above the bar depower set,really well thought out.
I would imagine they should be avail soon through the Australian Peter Lynn Dealer network if not already give them a yell for a demo.

Not really, pricing similar to the major brands.

Want some advice, just went through your website...you are selling to a very mature market now and your website tells you very little about the technical/flying characteristics of your kites. It is generic marketing talk - which is necessary, but there is a massively informed crowd out there. You had better give something to those in the know that influence those not in the know. I can't see in any way how you have differentiated your self in the market place on this website.

I would like to try the other sizes and the fury before an indepth review, as it would be good to compare the two styles back to back,the second day i rode the kite i came in to swap boards and gave one of the local guys the 9m escape to fly wind was 20-30knots and he took the kite for a 1/2 hour ride,when he came in the grin factor was off the charts,he was stoked with it,now he wants one.

Why radman was he and you stoked - compared to what? There are so many good kites out there now, and a lot of freeride, what makes this kite any different? They said they have combined the latest knowledge about such and such - vague.

Not knocking I actually want to know as Peter Lynn kites have been around since the old days, hence they have good pedigree, but from what I can see it is just another kite in the mix.

What are you comparing against?? Any specfics? The wind range is obvioulsy one than stands out. What are the characteristics of this kite? e.g. the catalyst has light bar pressure but lacks pull through the whole window - some like this...and yet say the rebel which I know, has a realtively heavish bar pressure but is very grunty and gives you a consistent smooth pull through the window.

Does the kite use pulleys? etc etc

And could you compare the peter lynn to the BWS Noise and the North Rebal and Switch kites please.

Am actually finding it hard to put the Escape into a specific catagory in the past its been easy but the escape seems to overlap a few,when i first heard about it i thought it would be a low -mid aspect bow,so checked the wind and it was low twenties gusting up to mid thirties,sweeet ,pumped it up and holy s**t it was a mid high aspect flat bow 4 strut with quite a flat centre section and it looked big so i was pondering weather to take it out or grab a smaller kite,well the kite won,so out i went, expecting to be on the edge and to get hauled all over the ocean,i couldnt of been more wrong power was silky smooth and the kite was so predictable ,it turns like a c-hybrid boosts and floats like a high aspect bow, drifts down the line like a delta,and dumps power as quick as you want ,bar is light to med and you can dial in as much or as little pull as you want through the loops,so to me at the moment its a bit of an enigma of a kite as it seems to do whatever you want it to do,for the last couple of seasons i have been riding c-hybrid kites and haven't really liked wider span bows but this kite definately is a big surprise.
Yes it has a pulley each side and is direct hooked at the trailing edge.

Lol, I wasn't the only one partaking in that pointless marathon. No I'm sincerely interested as Peter Lynn has always made a quality product. But the market is saturated with brands, I was kind of hoping I'd hear something that differentiates this from most of the others.

Early days of course. I also would like the discussion to become as technical and appropriate as possible. But that may be too much to ask with the above lotofwinds meaningless post.

Awesome Radman that's what I'm talking about. any reason why you think it is seeming to encompass all the benefits of the different styles?? Probably not enough time in the water I suppose with this kite. Good to hear some info from someone who knows their kites, cheers mate. Keep us informed and also try and get the Peter Lynn crew to somehow differentiate this kite in the market place, explaining why with some technical details, because as I said before their is a well informed market out there now and they want to know the how's and whys. Just putting colorful graphics with marketing words that tell you nothing, well it will get drowned out by the noise of the crowd. ( pun intended)

I have still got a PL vennom2 in mint condition sitting here.
I cant seem to want to part with the old girl.Too many good times.

I hope the new PL's dont need a pump like the originals.

Unroll and it self inflates, simple design, was a good kite in its day.

Sorry guys thought you wanted an honest review of how the kite performs ,i was given these kites to test and review as they are so new to the market and have been very pleasantly surprised ,obviously you just want an antagonistic 6 page pimp fest,take my comments however you want and then go and fly them for youself and make your own decision.
To me kiteboarding is about having fun and pushing limits to see how far i can go have been riding now for over 10 years and the kites i ride now i love and can't wait to get out on the water,if you feel the same isnt that what its all about,or do you just enjoy brand bagging more

Actually I thought a comparison would be useful as the market knows that Griffen kites are a great kite for it's target market and you know these kites really well. It can be compared with integrity to the Griffen kite, no need to bag it as I assume you wouldn't. Might be good for what science calls a control, a template to compare. But if you think this isn't appropriate that's cool.

Two totally different kites mate,TRX is a C-hybrid the Escape is a flat bow,both are awesome kites,both do a fantastic job and grin factor is off the chartsas i have said previously though i have ridden only the Escape in the 9m thus far however i have ridden the TRX in 8 10 12 and 14 multiple times and grin factor is the same no matter what size i ride as all the sizes are awesome, i hope the same can be said for the Escape and am sure it will be the case but until i can get out there i cant really comment,got my fingers crossed for wind.

Yeh cool will wait and see then. The griffen also seems to have an enormous wind range. Be interesting to compare these kites in a positive manner

When I got the email that they were going to be available I put an order in for an 11m .It arrived last week (i had forgotten that I had an order ) frankly at the time I thougt that it was not a good move with alousy summer drawing to an end .We ad a weak southerly last week and I threw it up for a muck around in about 15 kts and it went well with my magic red board (Decay scimitar) i weigh 110 kg .Waveriding is my thing and it looped nicely and effortlessly down the line and I was able to do cut back turns and had some fun down the line riding .I was pleasantly surprised .Had it out again toady (this time it was 15-18 ave on my cardboard wave and i had a really good wave session again good down the line .Nice drift and quick turns .I am really enjoying the kite . It seems to be well made with anice bag t jumps and hangs well and fies and turns well with the bar right in and also sheeted out .it likes to be pumped up hard (till it groans)The bar is quite nifty and has a rear line set up that can effectively shorten or lengthen the bar .

Was that the 11 Escape or Fury,still havent managed to get out on either of the 11m kites yet hopefully will get a chance this week some time.

Bought an 11 and 13m escape as to maximize turning and instant grunt for wave riding with the lower aspect four strut escape relative to the five strut fury.
Got out yesterday for first time with my 195 pounds on my lower volume round tail five foot ten fish on the 11 m. Wind was from 12 to 24 mph with chest to shoulder high waves for the strapless session. Big rotor shut off wind in the wave zone.

The bag is nicely made and fits all with details in adding rear pocket for extra repair tape in proper kite colors as in paraglider kit fasion. Extra 3 m line extensions for lighter wind days to augment the 21m stock kit. Kite sack as well as zippered bar sack.
Bar is well designed with great metal chicken line hole that should save some friction on CC line. Huge bar throw that can easily kill power to kill all power when necessary wave riding and then yank back on. The above bar depower cleat is very easy to use on the fly. Good above chicken hoop spinner. Grip is nice.

Kite is built well with reinforcements where they should be. Much different plan form than early protos Kites gone through heaps of I was able to play with for last few years. Bridles medium length. The surface area of tips has decreased since protos. Quick pump up with one pump and diameter of leading edge and struts. Kite is well built but not heavy. I only bought two of them so am not pimping others in my loft to sell for an honest revue. Sell and teach on heaps of other brands. Like D kites for waves normally.
The eleven meter launched easily and depowered well with a very stable feel. Turning was far better than you would expect for a flatter design. Snap turn with sheet in produced no stall and the kite drifted excellently while surfing directly at it in the very shady wind on the inside wave area. Was able to save numerous times in total drop outs easily. Was downlooping constantly to keep momentum down the line on wave and the power was very easily manageable. Compared to a D high surface kite like argonaut, less grunt feel on wave but better release of power for wave riding and easily can restore power with quick sheeting in. The snap turning of a tight D or C hybrid is of course tighter but I was on stock settings so have to test again to surmise. Very good turning for flatter kite and this thing RACES you back up wind to ride another wave. Very surprising on my smaller fish surfboard. Pumped up kite rock hard and the canopy never fluttered in the hucking around I put it through.
Quick one session summation on the 11; It has many of the good points of a good powerful flat kite while still maintaining turning and wave drifting without backstall that the light three stut D hybrids offer. Good for us heavy guys who need grunt on the waves to get sections and get back outside but who get lots of onshore crapy wind where speed of turn and acceleration through the window is paramount. Super stable and would be good beginner wing. Safety easy and functional with through bar mini fifth to forshortened front lines. Turning is there for us wave heads who need to throw a kite around to get instant power. Want to experiment with the other attachment points and try some twenty meters. The kite comes with 21m plus 3m extensions. Not a Kima snap turn but very good with no distortion in whip and clean consistent speed through turn. Unlike kima, it has some park and cruise power and does not need to be worked as hard. Still like the good light three strut D kites for strapless so surprised to like this kite so much. No surprises. Kind of a bit of a number of different models of kites have tested and owned. This is a new design from ground up from PL. Need to go head to head with the other kites a bit more but along side known riders on larger kites of less weight very impressed with performance and proved projected area efficiency and high to low AOA efficiency relative to the mostly other D and C hybrids outside flat foils in the water yesterday. There are always trade offs but this model has a lot of good traits for a good all rounder kite.
Speed through window good but certainly not what the other model Fury would be capable of from reports heard. Rather have the instant grunt for waves and satisfied with through window speed of escape at this point. More on 11 and 13 when I get another session.
