Hey Ste,yep we have a 2016 Edge V8 11m. My wife used it in Nusa Dua.Had probs 10 sessions on it.Her comments were no difference in the performance to last years model in her opinion.Cheers L & B
student had a 10 and 13 i got to have a quick little burn around on. the depower needs to be trimmed in just a bit to stop kite over shooting your head and stalling, i even considered tieing a 2nd knot up 3cm or so to create a new attachment point but hes going to remember to keep it trimmed in a little so no need . and due to its skinny high aspect design it stalls quite alot in gusty light winds which is fine if you know what your doing but can catch a beginner off guard and frustrate them a little.
positive note tho it honestly let me ride upwind like i couldnt believe. i have spent last few years on c kites with basicly wakeboards so you gotto take that into consideration but honestly it was pretty crazy just how far upwind it allows you to point that board right off the bat. it rally makes hitting that 45 degrees into the wind seam far more realistic. it is a skinny kite so youll want it fairly pumped up to allow for an easy relaunch.... cant remember if it had the "relaunch balls" or not on the steering lines but they are a great idea and made teaching students to relaunch quite a bit easier so cheers for that ozone :)
construction wise it all seams quite fine bridals are a bit thin probably to reduce static drag but i dont really think thats of any real issue more a marketing ploy.
but yeah all and all not bad if you hate 3 strut kites, id say the edge is viable for ..... what 90% ? of you lot who just want to ride upwind and do jumps may require you to pilot the kite a bit better then your normal fatter chord kites tho
all and all i think its a great kite if your a beginner or an old fart who just wants to mow lawn and ride upwind easier.
