Hello

I have 2014 12m2 Catalyst and it feels some times bit boring. Loops are slow and powerless and could also jump better. Also have 2015 7&9 Cats and like them a lot more. Mostly free ride, hooded jumps and some unhooked riding. So i'm considering selling my 12m Cat and getting somethings new.

Question: How different Enduro V1 is from Cat 2014 in 12m?

PS
When was the Enduro v1 released? Any rumours about v2?

I've moved from 2014 Cats to V1 Enduros in the past month or so. Albeit I've gone from a 12m cat to a 11m enduro (new size for 2017) Im 75Kg and ride 80% SB and 20% TT.

In short yes there is a significant difference.

If you've flown the 2011\2012 C4 it's closer to that in terms of performance. I agree the 2014 12m cat was a little boring.

The 11m has the same perhaps if anything a little more low end over the 2014 12m cat, noticeably faster (you would expect that). the biggest difference is the the boost...its is far, far better, I was blown away. It has the aggressiveness of the C4 but with better float, as with the C4 you need skill to get to best out of it, but my word does it reward. Even on the freeride setting it drifted nicely and similar to the cat.

I've been told that Ozone added two new sizes and new colour-ways for 2017 but kept it as v1, the v2 is not expected for the 2016\2016 summer season in AUS.

Now i'm just weighing up if i should add the 6 and 8m Enduros or 7 and 9.

This sounds like bad news to my wallet :) I had 2011 C4's and did like them.

But now you got me unsure what size to get. I have 2015 9m2 Cat & 2015 Zephyr and would need kite in between. I have been pretty happy for sizes I have. Although I have found out that I rather go out with Zephyr little overpowered than use the 12 as I really don't like it. Here winds are mostly from 6m/s to 10m/s.

Ive had zephyrs in the past too. I agree, its better to be overpowered on the zephyr rather than under on the 12.

I was out in light winds yesterday on a sb and really haven't lost any low end, but have gained kite speed. Whitecaps only just starting to form (13-14kn) I chose the 11 as it sits in the middle of the sweet spot for my weight and location. Regardless of the other sizes i add this will be my goto kite.

The other point to note now im clocking up more time on it. It definitely has more bar pressure. Med wing tip setting is equal to heavy on the cat. I havent tried all bridle settings yet so stay tuned.

I too missed the aggressiveness of my 2011 c4 but spending more time on a sb now i really didnt want a current gen c4. This kite is exactly what i was after.

With a 17 zephyr a 10 m kite would really be all u need as your next biggest

I have once changed from Zephyr to 9 when wind was picking up. Just got the 9 and wanted to give it a try. Was on limit with Zephyr and bit underpowered with 9. So 17->10 would be ok but then there is really no overlap. I like decent overlap between the sizes. This gives more options when choosing the kite and results less days when you need to fly over/under powered. Also results to more kites & €€€ :)

I mostly use twintip with straps or boots. During winter it is snowkiting with snowboard. On snow you normally need a lot smaller kite than on summer. I'm bit leaning to get 12m2 as I believe it will be better for the wind conditions we have. Will 12 enduro be faster to turn & fly than my 12 Cat?

Not too happy to hear about higher bar pressure but I guess it comes from c shape. Had 2013 C4 for a season and had to sell it because really hated the high bar pressure.

The bar pressure is not higher, or high, at all. The Enduro has light bar pressure on all settings and even on the freestyle setting on the centre of the bridle, I'd class it as medium. I fly my 9 and 14 on surfboards one handed all the time, just like my Reo's, never get sore elbows.
The wingtip settings have very little effect on bar pressure, they affect turning effort and speed.

Recently at the global demo tour in Qld, a rider had a 10M Cat 2015 and wanted to know the differences. We put the kites one inside the other, and it became easily very obvious. The Enduro is not just a renamed cat 2015, it was and is a completely new kite. Canopy layout and panel cut are completely different, the Enduro had a more upright strut shape and tip shape too.

Is bar reassure heavier than the 2012 cat?
Instantly sold my 2014 cat and went back to 2012 as bar pressure was ridiculous.

I agree, it isnt heavy at all. In my mind and in direct comparison to the 2014 Cat its heavier. I did always feel the bar pressure on the cat was a little light for my liking. I always ran the 9m on the heaviest setting.

On both middle settings, can easily ride one handed.

IMHO no ozone kites have high bar pressure
Mid at the worst or best dependant on preference
They have a sublime feel, especially the edge , I'm on another brand of kite which I'm loving ,but still miss that ozone feel, the bar position especially gives a better more relaxed riding position with a longer reach

Semi related but was the C4 2013 considered a bit of a dud? I see a few people on the forums never liked it...which is awkward because the 10m c4 was the kite i learned on
How does the enduro compare? Am looking to get a 7/8m for the windier days

This is how I see Ozone lineup today
Catalyst: Amateurs only
Enduro: Multi-purbose kite for most of the riders
C4 unhooked
Edge: Racing & Boosting
Reo: Waves only

mrodda117 did this answer to U?

Original C4 was tuned for all round riding. 2013 C4 was optimized for wake only.
So. The wake stylers loved it the freestylers hated it.

hmmmm, I don't see the Reo as a "wave only" kite, but is certainly excels and is primarily a wave kite.

I considered only inflatable kites. Ah but I missed Zephyr. Z is my season saver! Best purchase so far! Maybe here it is bit less windy and Z really is useful. I also like it on top end.

PS Plummet you missed all the snowkites! ;) I actually started kiting with Frenzy! But I guess you guess know very little about snow kiting here :) I mostly visit this forum as you guys seems to know a lot about Ozone here. Thx for this!

Your right i omitted the open cell foils.

No snow kiting for me. But I do landkite. I've owned access, frenzy, manta. Switched over to closed cell so haven't owned a summit.
05 Frenzy was my first depower kite!.
