Hi guys,
Now that the winter is approaching I'm considering a kite for winter fronts. Have a 2014 8m Reo and want to check what top end I can expect - intermediate/70kg. Or should I consider 7m kite like rebel/enduro/XR5 - or anything that fits Ozone bar or North click bar -... etc?

Problem with small kites is they have not much use but you still need quality since you cannot afford gear failure in high wind

I bought the Reo originally as a 30kt kite and for foiling saving money by having one kite but perhaps need 2

Thanks

You'll get 20-30'ish from that model and size Reo at your weight (I'm 73kg and have a 6/8/10/12 quiver of V4's.)

V4 have a great top end and use 6 m in summer and winter high wind days Did try 5 m V4 last season but found it to not have enough power between gusts in Vic wind But a few use this size on west coast With ocean wind I have also 6,8,10,12 m quiver V4

G'day Sonny, I've got a 7m Reo 2014 which I use for high wind, it's my smallest kite and I'm 75kg. I flew it at Augusta last Saturday but the wind changed from 28-30kt up to 38-40kt as I was setting up, I had planned to put up my 8m V1 Catalyst but had to go to the 7m, well I could only just hold it down with nearly full depower. I had to pack up and move on. I've found it great when the wind is +30 but I reckon I found its top end limit for my weight. Can't comment on newer models I haven't tried.

Cheers, j

About 30 knots max for wave riding I recon. Then down size to the 6m.

Of course you could go all boosty and non traditional wave ride and with that style of riding get at least another 5 knot top end.
