My Comments: Cocked up by faffing around with a order for kites so off to Esperance soon with a 6 and 11m OR Rise, sold my 9m Smoke. Go down to the beach and it is perfect 9m weather for me (bugger) I know the 11 is way too big. With a sinking feeling I pump up the 6 at Trigg, no sand blowing this is going to be a waste of time.

Oh well give it go. Launch it and fark me if it does not feel windy enough. Was out from 3 to 5 on the graph below at Trigg which is between those to spots.

On the board easily through the beach break and planning up wind unbelievable! At my weight I should not be going on such a small kite. It looked tiny zinging around on the 21+3m lines. Had it on the slow setting too. Back into the waves heaps of power down the line turns a treat(It is a 6 so it should) Had a couple of hours blasting around, super fun kite made transitions a joy. Not sure if it is the venturi system (holes in the canopy) or something else but the kite is really smooth. Drifts nicely downwind and is meant to unhook well but I can't so the point of that. Very light on the bar which I like everything one handed and there is a moveable stopper ball set up.

Built very well with a robust one pump system - nice to have that back again. Simple front bridle direct back lines with fast or slow setting.

Bar is really sweet with really good safety set up. Dragging on the depower was a pain - the below the bar system was stiff but is meant to loosen up with wear.

Getting a 6/8/11 quiver which in other brands is probably a 8/10/13 spread. Great to go out on a smaller kite as they turn so much better than the bigger ones.

Just finished my 2nd session on the 11m Ocean Rodeo Rise and can't speak highly enough of this kite.

Having progressed from North Rhino 07 & 08 to Core GT 09, this kite seems to offer the best of both.

The Venturi system provides the kite with excellent stability, even in gusty conditions, and virtually eliminates back stalls.

The trim is located below the handle, which is a little stiff and quite hard to use under power, however, gives you an uncluttered view of your lines and means the depower throw can be as long as you like (upto a metre). Again this is great in gusty conditions as you can instantly depower upto the equivalent of a chicken loop release in some other kites.

The stopper is very effective and doesn't seem to slip. This means you can confidently set the position and trust it to hold. Front lines meet at a very effective swivel just above the extent of the depower.

Boosting was a little harder to figure out at first due to the light bar pressure. After a bit of trial and error I figured it out and was in awe of the height achieved. The kite seems to have an initial lift followed by a second, like a turbo kicking in. This leads to unbelievable hang time. This caught me off guard at first as I prepared for landing but kept going for another 4 seconds or so. I had to be more aware and watch out for down wind kiters as I was traveling much further in the air.

Loved the stopper in the inflate valve. Air in only. No precious PSI lost on removing the pump.

Overall very happy with my purchase. Got the 8m with small bar and the 11m with large bar. The bag is well made and easily fits every thing in, even with an untidy pack up.

First time using Ocean Rodeo kites and so far very impressed.

The upcoming wind looks great so I'll be giving my 8m a go either today or tomorrow. Will let you know.

Demo if you can, I was going to get the 7/9/11 but after using the 9 it felt way too powerful for what I wanted it for - Solid wind on a surfboard. So changed to the 6/8/11.

Still waiting on the 8 will comment after a few rides.

7/10 combo would be better than 8/10 IMHO.

Ive got the 10m and 12m so going to get the 8m as I ride a twin tip - going to order it now!

Had a great session really offshore and gusty the kite handled it with no dramas. Heaps of depower which means you can surf the waves rather than just be dragged along them. Really impressed, the self launch/land in the gusty conditions was excellent.

What is this kite kike for boosting and hangtime?Does it handle very gusty conditions well. Cheers Steve.

I Ride the 2008/2009 Ocean Rodeo kites and have just tried the 2010 Rise.
Taken that I am dialed into the rise bar pressure and depower comes naturally.
First the 2010 feel a kite size large in power than the previous Rise which was a grunty beast. IE a 7m will give the power of the old 8m .
The new 2010 bar is a work of art,contoured to fit and with 2 attachment point to effectively alter the length. ( All bars should have this)
12m Felt more like a 14m but way quicker Jumping was more float than hight . Not enough difference for me to trade in my 14m Rise
11m Awesome power of a normal 13m loads of lift and float . Funny thing is when you initially redirect the kite during a jump you get a second boost as the kite comes over head. I've not had this before. This kite will join my quiver Quick stable and fun
9m All I can say is I didn't get on with the 9m .Too peaky on power vague on feel. May have been a bad day I don't know. For now I will keep my 2008 10m Rise
7m A high wind star. With the bar on the small setting and 30 to 35mph of wind I had a blast. In fact I bought the demo kite then and there it is so good.

To sum up the OR XPD Rise are the kings for bottom end, well built and superbly stable.
I don't unhook but tried the 11m in light wind on the beach and it just sat in the sky with no problem. I would recommend them to anyone even the 9m which I am putting down to a bad day.

85k 24knts wakestyle with boots.

kite has a sweet unhooked feel and good unhooked top end for a 9m, felt considerably more powerful than my 9m but was still controllable, real good load and pop on it and was nice and stable.

goes big if u want to send it.

need to test it again in lighter winds..

Bought an Ocean Rodeo Rise 6m last week (WestOz), had a couple of lame sessions in about 15/16kn on a surfboard and could just stay upwind working the kite. Would have gone on my old 12 Rebel but new toy syndrome.

Went out last Sunday in +20kn and had a blast on a power hungry 138 Hammer.
I would have gone the 8m but I don't have it yet.

Looking forward to getting those 8 and 11m kites.

The 6m is one of those kites that the more you fly it the better it gets.

Also now have the 8 and 11m too, have only flown the 8m once. Looking at the forecast I should be able to take the 11m out soon.

Try the short line set up you loose power but makes them super fast even on slow setting awesome fun

Trailed 6m 2010 rise in 18 knotts at the start of session to 25knotts this week, Was very impressed, esspically since i was on a twin tip and didnt think I would even get going at the start but to my suprise, the kite has heaps of power in it.
I wiegh 70kg and rode a 133 caliber. But looking for a kite for waveriding on a surfboard.
Pros:
-Kite is very responsive and turns so quick, although wouldnt expect much less from a 6m
-Could not get the kite to back stall no matter how hard i tried, may be the vents but the thing just powered up and kept flying forward when oversheeted
-very durible construction, they have made a nice kite
-The safety system is a good idea, unhooked and bar dropped or if quick release is hit the kite completly depowers but is not flagged and can still be recovered and relaunched and you wont loss your chicken loop if the QR is hit

Cons:
-If the trim is not cleated before the start of your session it is very hard to trim and depower the kite.
-It might just have been due to its new but the front lines struggled to untangle after a few loops.

Even with those few faults, its a very good value kite
You know your flying a good kite when you concentrate more on your riding than flying the kite, and this is the case here.
I ended up buying a 7m from Jason at Westoz

The de power is problematic. Use your thumb as a fulcrum and inch it through directly down and it is easy. Once you get the technique it is a piece of piss

I kept the 08 and 09 bars as the new bar sounds like OR have gone backwards. If its hard to pull this is a big safety issue, I havent used the bar myself but just going from what Ive read on OR forums.

The new bar is great and when you get used to the technique it is easy

Is it possible it can get stuck and not depower when using safety release. Ill be picking up the 8m on monday, though kite only.

Been using the 8m lately sic kite has heaps of bottom end but still quick

The 8m is awesome, to me it feels just like the 09 10m but much faster. Its great to set up as it takes about 25 seconds to fill it up.

Not sure what the wind range of the kite is at yet but I went out in 20-26 kts and never felt underpowered on 129 @ 96kg.

At you weight a solid 18 knots should have you powered up.

They are a smooth kite. Love the way they turn

I think 18knots would probably be ok, considering at 26 knots I had about 1/3 depower already.

ocean rodeo rise xpd 2010 or liquid force Envy ?

Liquid force are good but not in the same league as the Ocean Rodeo for construction. As for performance I have not ridden the LF but the Rise are really sweet kites.

I demoed both from Jason (westozkiteboarding.com.au) and bought 6,8 and 11m OR Rises and very happy with them too.

how does the 6m go with a twin tip, what wind do you need to have fun about 25kts?

I m considering selling the 12m 08 and 10m 09 and getting just 2010 10m, as well as the 2010 8m. The 8,10,12 combo is really too close and think its really not needed considering I now have the 19m for light wind.
