Just picked up a set of Rises from Jason at West Oz Kiteboarding. Had the 07 demo for a couple of months, kites tried in 07 - Rev, Era, Sonic 06, SB2, CB3, Bandit.

Went out yesterday bit underdone on the 10 cross on small waves surfboard.

Pros - build quality really strong better than SS IMHO the 07 survived a kitemare rise cycle in double overhead, Bar and lines really neat and clean good quality lines (Adjustable 21 or 25m), adjustability for different riding styles (Bridle for power and turning speed, stopper for length of throw on CL), minimal bridle direct to kite on back lines, really sweet handling - turns well and controllable through the window really confidence boosting, One pump and the clam cleat is below the bar for ease of use.

Unsure - Venturi effect(holes in the canopy) - don't unhook so not sure about that whole back-stall thing don't you just de-power the kite before you unhook?

Cons - Apart from parting with a sizable chunk of cash, yes I buy the kites, none yet

Not yet. Had the 07 10m out in nuken winds and it was stable but really de-powered so not flying well that is why I got the 8m as well.

I am 110kg so may give a false idea if you are less than 80kg would probably recommend the 6m or a really small board.

You used to have sonics didn't you? the 8m sonic was my favourite kite but it feels like a dog next to these - hard to point to one thing as to why - they turn and go through the window so well -no surge of speed or power, deformities or locked in feel. Best wave kite I have tried by far.

Meerkat, I've got an 07 8m at 95kgs I'm comfortable in 18-23 knots. Last winter I rode the kite depowered every session and wished I had the 6m. They have heaps of bottom end power. If you see me out you can do a few runs and try it for yourself.

This is one kite i would definately be keen to try for 2008, there is only good reviews out about them at the moment. Does anyone know if there is a dealer for these in QLD? From the reports, i would be interested in trying out the 8m or 10m as a demo.

i am a mere light weight at 76kg but am hardcore(thats what i tell people) so an 8m should be fine. i'll grab the demo off jason and see what it can do.

I still have the sonic and am trying to sell it, oh well looks like i need to give it away now.

Keep it as a spare hard to get kites fixed up north mine will always come as a backup, still a good kite just not as good.

Still only used the 10 but good session in cross off waves yesterday revealed it is much better on the short lines.
By removing the 3m extensions you get a faster more responsive feel that seemed to fit the turns better and allowed a more vertical attack on the waves.

Really solid kite easy to set up works straight out of the bag. What size did you get?
In 18knot+ I use short lines on my 10.

Used the 12 on long lines in really light winds yesterday it was really good to fly. Lower aspect than I expected but really quick and heaps of grunt with light bar pressure.

Had a change of mind about my quiver, 20 20 hindsight is a good thing.
Being 110kg I started with a 8, 10 and 12 quiver but found for strong winds, a real 25knots plus, the 8 was a handful for wave riding on a surfboard, still possible but not ideal. When bottom turning I was getting pulled past the section I wanted to hit, the 8 has serious grunt. See review at http://www.kiteforum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2344715 as well.
I demoed the 6m and was surprised how good it felt as it was the smallest kite I had ever used. For riding waves in solid wind it is insane really fast and stable.
I have ended up with 6, 8 and 10 quiver and that easily covers the winds I ride in West Oz. All are fast, stable and well built. Bar is neat and tidy with easy adjustment of length of throw and de power.
Adjustment of flying characteristics are easy with the adjustment points on the bridle and back lines really working and have the pig tails already there. This was really useful as I like to tailor the feel of each kite to be as close to each other as possible, I slowed the 6 and sped up the 10.
Sorry do not have any photos of me riding the 6 or any decent size waves everyone wants to kite when it is good.

could you please advise me on the top end of 08 10 m and 8 m rise .I weigh 85 kg and ride nobile 135 , like to ride powered ,would like to ride the 10 m 28 to 30 knots or is this to much and would I be better on the 8m if so what is the low end of 8m well powered thank you hunts.also how does the safety work

You would be really powered up in 28 to 30 knots on a 10m. It is doable if you want to do jumps and freestyle, only problem I have is with down the line wave riding on a surfboard.

Bottom end for the 8 I found the other day on a surfboard was 12 to 15 knots guys on 12's were just going and I was ok but lost the wind if I went down the line. Solid 15+ would be recommended. I was on the short 21m lines 24m setup would give you more bottom end.

Safety is excellent running off the double chicken loop line, flags out from the cleat SS rev is similar Rise better IMHO. Oh **** handle on one of the front lines great for flip self landing.

Forgot to mention the Rise is excellent to self launch and land using ghost or flip methods.

Demo them if you can hard to choose between the 8 and 10 both very capable kites one quicker one gruntier depends what feel you want.
