Rider: I'm still pretty crap, and have had limited experience with other gear.
Kites: 11m and 9m

I went out on the 11m first. When it first went in the air I was amazed at the bar pressure. It was next to none. Dont know where the power pulls you from, cause its not in your arms, and very little in the harness, but it is there.
Jesus this thing turns quickly. It is where you want it to be when you want it to be. It flys very nicely, no twitching or anything. It stays stable even when heading down wind. Ok, I'm no good at the jumping etc, but I gave it a burn, and was slightly confused because of the bar pressure compared to my current kite. I went pretty much nowhere, but it feels like it was just waiting to be unleashed. Im positive with more experience flying it this thing would get me jumping nicely.

I came in and swapped over for the 9m. I thought the 11 was quick.....WRONG. This was quick. The kite effortlessly goes whereever it is wanted, and i found less bar pressure than the 11. The one thing i felt weird with was the length of the bar, a little too short for my liking, but i guess it doesnt have to be any longer because it already turns so sweet. I crashed it into the water, and it relauched easily, just a tug on a back line and up it went.

I came in, and had a chat about the kite (actualy this was after riding the 11 and before the 9 but anyway) and it is designed to withstand a nuclear blast by the sounds of things. All the panels have been laid out to minimise wear, keep the weight down and to be nice and simple. Things like they way the stitching is on the struts, and the placement of panel seems, and the struts.

I think this kite would shred in the surf. The high speed turn, and little bar pressure would make for a lovely ride. (especially unhooked when i get to that stage) . From the feel of my "sick arial manouvers" it would also pull some sweet jumps.

What i liked the most was the the guys there had the time to chat to me, and explain things a little. Im on 16 so i usually get flung off as a pain in the arse (ok i probably was) , but they were more than happy to tell me about the kite, and its construction etc. This was a big thing to me, and even if the kite flew like **** (which it didnt) id be raving about it.
All i think now its a pity i have no coin

I realy liked the 11m, a well ballanced kite, well made , great bar set up .
The kite itself is quick, just perfect feel on the bar, not too light, and at the same time good feedback,
They are a high wind kite, as N8 said, but I still had no problem going up wind on a larger board while the wind was still light with my 97 Kgs.
If I had not all ready commited to an other brand I would get a NEW kite. Put the "give the lokal boy a chance" and the hype aside these are good kites and great value as well.

We flew 11m - 7m. wind was alittle light, 10 to 20 knots I would say. Not much more. Alittle gusty towards the end but every one got out on the water and had a blast.

i used the 7 yesterday, so much power on tap.
graphs say 35 knots in the gusts, i wasn't even pulling in the depower strap until i was unhooking so much nicer than my previous kites.
I'm really impressed by this kite and would say its perfect for the surf with its tight and fast turning but equally suited to the free style kiter, it trucks upwind, kiteloops well [only tried one] with out any flutter and has a simple/light/comfortable/ uncluttered bar.
The fifth line is welcome on any of my kites, if your a real kiter your going to go out in conditions where you would find a use for it.
Unfortunately i had to get to a valedictory dinner so only had 20 min on water time. hopefully we get good wind like that again though.

and yes, the small pipes on the one pump work perfectly fine... probably deliver a weight saving and make it easier to fix should you not look after your gear too well.

It's really interesting, so many kiters that are on FLAT style, bridled kites think that their kites are the bomb. Until they try out the NEW original series. No bar pressure, heaps of de-power, quicker than ANY bridled kite and the safety of fifth line.

If you are looking at progressing your freestyle, get OFF the bridled kites and on to a fifth line set up.

You all need to try them, just so you can actually have an opinion from experience.

Hey Hirchausen, how do you find the New kites compared to the Generators?

Gav told me to tell you NEW's better.

I have tried them both and it depends what you want. There's alot of people who put kites in to groups and believe it will fly like that. etc.
All kites are different to what you expect.

NEW kite fly off the front lines and power is generated by flying fast. Its tuned to have very little power when stationary and good comfortable power once at planning speed.
No good for riders who anticipate power by holding the bar in without sine waving the kite. This is why I recommend them for people out of school level.
Mind you I just easily taught someone on the kites so they seem good for a beginner too.

It’s built for unhooked comfort in extended wind range with light bar pressure for rider endurance.
It also has sick wave riding performance in strong wind using the very front line attachments.

Like a guitar, tune up the strings and it will go heaps better.
