Just got into kiting after a three year layoff and eager to get myself a new downwind wave kite to match my newly acquired DHD in the next week or so. Been reading a few good reports on Airush, North, Ozone in the press but wanted to engage the Perth locals to see what the verdict is on the best 8 mtr wave kite to go for. Would love a 7 and 9 combo but that will have to be next year !!!!

Any thoughts and help are most welcome.

Thanks
Phil

I'm not sure you could go too far wrong with any of the new big brand wave dedicated kites.
I think the most popular drift kites you will see locally are the Reo, Drifter, Wave and Neo.
If you were going to buy new, I'd go to your local dealer and demo the hell out of a few different makes.

I use to own a kite shop and stocked wave sst slingshot, ozone REO, Ikon and Zian kites in my scarborough store.

However I rode the ocean rodeo roam 8mtr in qld and had to take it back to WA. My shop is now closed due to the demand for me to stay home and look after my two boys.

But I still ride Ocean Rodeo Roam, its dedicated wave kite, as my choice. My quiver is a 5,6,7and 8 with shift bar for WA conditions and demo. Im stoked with my kites as its very balance in every way.
Medium bar feel, responsive, drifts well, hard wearing, surf stuff, short bridle on the front line, predictable and has the MX appeal that looks hard and not euro techno. Its also awesome for boosting with forgiving landing. Which means its not the fastest kite but its responsive and never feel slow.

I now help a rep by demo for WA, as I feel that this kite is right at home in the West.
If you see me on the beach hit me up for a demo anytime. Most the downwind crew know me ill be Happy to help or email me on as I kssindustry@gmail.com

You should try the Switch Kites Element6 when you have a chance. It's a very decent wave kite at a much lower price point than the majors.
