OK so looks like a nice kite, but I would be interested to know how the "speed pump system" is speedier at pumping than other brands.

Also they said its good for kitelooping, but that one kiteloop they show doesn't really get me that amped.

I have heard from a few dudes that these kites are pretty good though so not writing it off, just get a little over claims that don't seem substantiated.

Anyone looped or pumped up one of these bad boys?

Ah, I've stopped questioning the quality and performance of Core kites long ago. The new XR2 will be a winner if their past offerings are anything to go by.

We'll be placing and order for some really soon. The new bars are finally on their way too.

Rider: Weight,Level: advanced
Style: Freeriding, Race
Weather: 20 knots
Build Quality: 10/10
Satisfaction: 10/10
Disclosure: (international team rider)

My Comments:
I had the pleasure to ride the new XR 2 9m at the Kitesurf World
Cup in Sylt.
This kite is awesome and my favorite kite from Core atm. It flies very smooth through the air and the power development is very proportional. Response and turning Speed is spot on and very balanced. The profile is higher aspect compared to the old XR and other Cores. The tips have a new geometric profile.
This kite has an unreal upwind performance and you can go very fast with it, great for racing.
I tried some boosts and i must say it is one of the best kites for jumping and hangs up there for a long time. Very easy to send and land.
The bar pressure is light but the rider gets enough feedback.
Kite does not stall on the standard factory setting (middle option on backline- fast).
Kiteloops are predictable and very smooth- linear power all the way through the loop, not a crazy jank like the GT.
It drifts back nicely which is great when going downwind or riding waves.

I think this kite will appeal to a lot of people because it is a all round fun machine. Stand out is the upwind and speed performance. Perfect for racing :)

new inflation/deflation system.

Good to hear the turning speed and aspect ratio is higher. I fly a 10 m xr and the only thing I wish it had was slightly greater turning speed especially in loops and in the surf. But only slightly technique can fix this. In all other aspects it is by far the best kite I have ever flown I. 10 years and build quality in unreal. It already flies upwind really well so I can't wait to try the x2. It's stability in the crazy onshore winter winds has been unbelievable this winter. Not afraid to go out in even the worst conditions this year. Just a great kite and they seem to have made it even better!!!

Demoed the Core XR2 9m in 14-18 knots during our Demo Day, riders were 80-85kg. This Kite fly's upwind with ease and is great for boosting, very fast moving. A Local Core Rider also commented that this kite has great bottom end power but is more refined not punchy power like the GT. The bar pressure is lighter this year but you know where the kite is. Really smooth and enjoyable to fly, great for Free Riding and wave riding. This kite's new one pump is easier to pump and quicker, Also has a one way valve. Couldn't fault this kite, very easy to launch and land. Very much doubt anyone who fly's this kite would be disappointed. Would love to hear how it goes at the top end of its range.

Hey Robbie,

We have a 17m XR2 ready for demo along with the new Sensor bar as soon as it gets a bit nicer to test. Don't know about demoing the 19 as well, that's a serious kite!

We have a few XR2's coming which will go into demo and a bigger order coming for stock later next week.

New Core stuff looks great. Can't wait to give it a demo ride.

top end is big booosting :)
Core reckons that this XR2 is the biggest boosting kite on the market!?
I have boosted big on 9m CR2 but would like to see how the 7m XR2 compares against the 7m GT which is my fav for boosting

In the loop... As you know I fly the XR-10 and GTS 8m - what are the specific differences witht he new x2?

The XR to me suites beginners, intermediates wh want to advance and the expereinced rider like myself who needs to fly more conservatively now due to body breaking down!!

However I prefer the immediate power of the GTS and it's boosting ability. Find the XR has more delay on direction of flight, prnounced when trying to really boost big, for kiteloops and in the surf. You really need to anticipate further ahead than I like. (I understand the long bridles/pulleys etc have other benifits.

Also how does teh xr2 COMPARE TO the GTS as I know you have owned and flown both the XR and GTS??

Cheers mate.

I have a 17m XR2 just sitting waiting for some light wind. The first light wind Sunday I get, it shall be written.

If anyone else has the time on a light day and wants to break out a brand new XR2 LW 17, drop into the shop

Dazza got any smaller sizes?? Hey off topic, the edge, boost big as you've said for a while now (everyone finnally catching on), is it at least useable in the surf? Not a surf kite, but is it manageable? I like to boost big, with some wave riding on the CB wave I got off you - what a board?

... I'd be really interested if you still have the original XR 17m with you, can you test back to back, 17m XR vs 17m XR2?

cheers,

Robbie

yeah please compare to old xr 17m . i have tested the kite liked it but the low end was a bit weaker than ozone zephyr. i would love to see if they improved that or the stability of the kite so i can replace ozone zephyr with an equal 1 (when it comes to low end). I am waiting cause there is the 19m 1 and would love to know

Hope to get a burn on an Xr2 10m today, Thanks Darren and Todd.
looking forward to it although the wife told me I wasn't allowed to demo as many kites this year as I have a habit of buying them as a result.

Hey Robbie,

Yep, as a matter of fact, I handed over the Core XR LW 2010, Core XR217m LW 2012 and Ozone 2011 Zephyr 17m to Todd, Pascal and Nick a couple of days ago. I'll let Todd and the boys give you their experiences, I know Todd was saying he'd put up a review pretty soon.

I know they all had a good sesh but it'd be better coming from the boys.

Cheers,
