I tried the first gen Fly - wasn't very impressed... pulled nicely but very downwind, hard on the legs to go upwind but it was fast and agile... and very well balanced - you could let go the bar and the kite would sit against the bar stopper and just stay there. The next gen is apparently better. But my Flite 17 is even better again :D it's fast, it pulls good, it goes upwind really well and best of all - it's got float! Reminds me of my Speed3s in how you just hang around up there, then sorta hover over the water as you redirect. Very easy to do foot-outs and multiple rotations on it.
This isn't my experience at all. Found it needs no more back foot drive than any other big kite. I mostly ride it strapless on my North Nugget.
The first model FLY prefers the two forward most connection points for the bridle, never put it on the back knot.
