Looking for a light wind kite to take away overseas with me this year for those day when the trades back off and you get maybe 10 -13knots.

So currently riding North Evo kite so if I was to go with the Fuse I could just get kite only which would same me some coin.

Anyone ridden either and has a view.

The only kite of similar size I've ridden and have to compare against is the Naish Fly

Hey Deano,

Could you go with the North Dyno and Some Line Extensions.

Not a fan of the Dyno, from what Ive read its more of a race kite. Im looking more for a freestyle kite that has good boosting/float.

Also a small thing that puts me off the Dyno is it is not a 1 pump system and having 7 struts (new LTD version is only going to have 5 struts) is a pain for a lazy prick like me.

... spot on with the 2012 Dyno (too raceboard orientated) and I too miss the one pump (yep, I put my hand up as a lazy prick too).

I'm looking into the Fuse and waiting with baited breath for more info and from what I've been told so far was the Fuse 16 or 18m should fit the bill, aimed at more free ride than just light wind upwind prowess of the Dyno. Ken Winner says the Fuse will jump better but won't have the same bottom end as the new Dyno and suit twin tip riders.

Playing devils advocate here, but I reckon the North might be the go for you as the DNA of the north should be more to your liking than going to something different. If you've already got a north then logically sticking with north should suit you better, and the flying characteristics be similar (just guessing here). Plus the fact that you can use one bar is nice.

Having said that, the Draft looks good and I'd love to try it too, especially the 17m. Supose the only way is to demo (hard to do when you can't get your hands on one) and see for yourself.

cheers for now,

Robbie

Waiting to try the Draft but from the looks of it i think its going to an upwind and big air kite, It will be interesting to try the Draft in the bigger sizes as they are only three struts.

For fun lightwind kites that turn fast an unhook well i would suggest the Naish Fly or Blade Fatlady for the moment.

Thanks Robbie, Im thinking you are right, it makes sense to stay with the same brand. As long as the Fuse fly's ok, which I cant see any reason that it shouldn't, then I think I will go with it. Hoping that they will be available towards the end of the month, will let you know how I go

The Fuse is out now so you should be able to try one somewhere. Similar to last years with the most evident change being increased turning speed.

The Draft won't be there till after Easter so you will have to hold out for a while to try that one.

Later model Dyno have gone to 5 strut so have a bigger power foil for a bit more instant grunt. Still a race kite though.
