Hey. Im looking at buying a kite luggage bag as I need a new suitcase and nowdays it seems everytime I go on holidays near the ocean I fret about it being windy and not being able to kite :)

Has anyone got advise on what type of bag to buy? I want to be able to travel with two kites,TT and enough clothes for 10 days. Is this possible?

Any brands better than others? Dont want a kite brand who has paid a chinese factory to make a halfarsed bag and then sown a label on it.

Sporting equipment gets you extra allowances, etc. fins, and anything small and heavy, pack in your hand luggage.

no offence taken dave. I don't live in a city and haven't actually seen one in the flesh thats all. Hard to see the quality on the net.

Dakine make some super solid high quality kite travel bags. You can select wheeled vs non wheeled bags etc...If weight is an issues go non wheeled.

Another option is to just buy a good regular bag & carry your board separate in a lightweight cover. This works if your airline carrier doesn't charge per piece, or you take surfboards. I travel with one of these. Great quality for the price. (N.B. USA website)

2 kites, bar & wet gear in bottom section of duffle. Clothes, and pump in top. room in outside pouches for other stuff.
3rd (small) kite if needed I take as carry on in this. I only paid half the $RRP

I use both bags regularly even when not kiting. This setup doesn't leave you scrounging through giant bags and gives you a bit of versatility. It's easy to carry and wheel everything by yourself without a trolley.

Can't speak highly enough of the Dakine travel gear. But hey I sell them so no point rabbiting on!!
The wheeled Clubwagon is the standout choice for most. Fit 2 kites & 1 TT with oodles of space for other stuff.
ProLimit also have a great two part bag. Zippered together its one piece of luggage for handling & loading. Get to site and you can unzip them so you have one part to use as a day bag - 1 kite 1 board + bar harness wetty etc. easily. No wheels but tuck away back-Pak straps. Noice.

Hey Puppet, what bag would you recommend (not worried if its what you sell!) for 2 TTs (135, 137), 2 kites, wetsuit, harness, helmet + beach stuff?

I have a KGB double kite bag for sale. Excellent condition (1 trip only, then went to SB's). Takes TT's and plenty of gear. Wheels and various compartments. Unzips into 2 separate bags. Let me know if you're interested and I will send pics.

I just bought a Cabrinha Golf Bag for a recent trip. Fitted two kites 14 and an 11 a 146 TT board, harness, impact vest, control bar, pump, 2 wetsuits (full length steamer and a springy), reef shoes and towel. All under the weight limit for the airline. Got it on no questions asked. I could have easily fitted an extra twin tip but wold have exceeded the weight limit on the bag.

What is the general weight limit... 25kg right?

Yes...you can get away with 30kg if you get a good check in person who like you or have Gold or Platinum status on most airlines but 25kg to be safe.

I just use my snowboard travel bag. Its dakine I think. I can fit 2 tts and a couple of kites plus extras.

Also most surfboard bags do the job pretty well too.

The thing I learnt on my last trip is the more air you can get out of your kite when packing it actually makes a difference to the weight of your gear. I did not think air had a weight but it clearly does. So packing your kites really flat with little to no air is key to giving yourself an some extra wiggle room on weight and of course saving space. Most kite bags claim you could get three kites and two twin twips into them. From a space perspective you probably could at a squeeze but not from a weight perspective. Not a chance in hell of that happening.

Currently weghing up options between prolimit golf, north combibag and cabrinha golf. Aiming to hold 1 board, 1 kite (2 in future), bar, pump, helmet, harness, towel, wettie and some clothes. Hoping to see a few in the flesh tomorrow at briskites but any idea which would be the best of these?

When I was looking teamex I did not find much of a difference between the brands other than a zip here or a pocket there. IMO it comes down to quality of the bag (is it going to stand up to the punishment airline baggage handlers are going to give it) and personal preference. I looked at half a dozen bags and settled on the Cabrinha Golf Bag as it was a couple of bucks cheaper than the other and I could not differentiate the other bags.

I ended up going with the Naish golf -mostly due to what was in stock at the moment i visited the store (didn't have time to order online). seemed to offer th most protection with an added pouch here or there. Other options where the prolimit stacker i think and the north combibag. North bag was pretty basic and while the prolimit looked good the naish has a couple of extra bells and that

always been worried about fins maybe considered like a weapon or something and packed them in checked in.. are they good to go in carry on?
