What is the best impact vest and would it be wise to choose a vest that is the same brand as my harness.

Doesn't have to be same brand as harness. There is a difference between an impact vest and a flotation vest for kiting although the impact vest does provide a little bit of flotation. I use mine every session, apart from the obvious impact protection it also provides an extra layer against wind chill.

Try a few on and find one that is comfortable and fits well.

Have a look at he Forward WIP. Exxie and from what I have read is top notch. Rated to 50N flotation as well. So you CAN get an impact vest and Flotation in the same thing.

just make sure the impact vest and your harness is compatible - ie that you can wear both without the impact vest affecting the fit of your harness and the position of the harness hook. Most arent compatible and that leads to all sorts of dramas !

I have worn mine with a Mystic waist harness and a prolimit seat Harness. It was more comfortable with the seat harness but worked ok with the waist harness
