I have a Dakine fusion seat harness, and am having problems with the spreader bar uncliping when going toeside. I do the harness up as tight as I can before I go out, but it still becomes loose enough to unclip when going toeside. Has anyone had the same problem, and is there a simple fix?

I have experienced the same problem with my harness and to date no obvious easy fix. I persoanlly think the clip is not designed particularly well.

The harness sould have been suplied with a screw to put into one of the power clips to stop the bar coming out completely.

If you have a preffered tack when riding toeside, put the screw in the downwind clip - so as a standard footer (riding toeside, left foot foward), I would put this in the left clip. Sorted

Unfortunately my spreader bar tends to unclip during loops or moves when the pull of the kite goes from a lot to very little. It tends to pop out occassionally whichever side the screw is inserted. Other people I know with the same harness have experienced the same problem, it's just a case of trying to minimise the number of times it occurs. The natural pull of the kite upwards makes it virtually impossible to prevent the spreader bar riding up a little which is the root of the problem. My previous seat harness was used straps to hold the spreader bar in place which obviously prevented this problem.

Try reversing the clips, by that I mean turn then 180 degrees, so the opening is on the inside, and use a spreader bar pad.
There is meant to be a screw on one side so that should not come out, and the other side, the clip should be reversed and that should solve the problem.

The Pyro is really a windsurfing harness, it is basically unchanged over the last few years.
The clips used in that style of harness do not work with the loads and angles of pull that kitesurfing inflicts.
If the webbing does not slip through the buckles, then the webbing cuts quickly anyway.
I know of a few lost kites due to the spreader bar coming off completely with Pyro users, get a Tabu, and reverse the clip on the unscrewed side.

Yes, there is a simple fix.

Take 30cm of 3mm climbing/sailing dynema/old leader line and tie it to the small webbing loop near the clip that comes loose. After setting the clip, thread the 3mm rope through the hollowed out centre of the metal clip. Do an overhand knot to secure it.

Takes 10 seconds each time

Had my Dakine unclip as you mentioned. Solved the proplem by closing
up the "u" shaped clip,by tapping with hammer.Close up clip so that
spreader bar just slots in. As to bar pulling up,would suggest you are
kiting with kite very high in the window,as bar usually drops back down
once droping kite from 12 o'clock and powering up.
have found the Dakine "seat"harness a good product, having replaced it
after 4 years of solid use only because it was looking shabby and
was given another.

If it really stresses you out, put a screw in both sides and then just loosen all four straps to get in and out. Alternatively fit a pro limit bar with the clip apart system and screw both sides in. I find just using a spreader bar pad works fine to keep it in place.

Its a funny thing, like I said, its never happened to me, but I've heard alot about it.. so I had a think...

I wonder if its a harness/person/spreader size issue? - my bar sits pretty close to fully tighend when I wear mine, Im a slender mofo, so Im small for the harness and there's no chance of it popping out - but if you were wearing a harness at the top end of its size, would it make a differnce...?

Kevin, whats your harness size, bar size and your size like?

I have had the problem occur using both a medium and large size harness .I changed the screw over as I only ride toeside in one direction at the moment.I will reverse the clip when I start to ride toeside in both directions .So this should fix the problem. Thanks for all your advice.
