Trying to decide on what would be a good board to get started on I want something that I can learn on but also use as I move into intermediate riding. Going to be hitting it up around Redcliffe, Sandgate and Brighton areas.

I have been looking at the Cabrinha Chopsticks and the CF Allround model.

Just hit up a cheap second hand 'big' board like for your weight aim for something flat and around the 140 and up size. This will be good for later when you want a light wind board, and once you are going along successfully upwind and got the basics down then you will know what you want.

Stay away from any 'wakestyle' board they are just too hard to learn on, you want to learn efficiency and safety first!

Both those boards sound good! As I said pick a larger size and your set.

Choice of a smaller board later on for you will be either a 'freestyle' or 'wakestyle' board, demo once you get to that stage.

As mentioned just get a cheap board or one that you can progress with, you'll need something in the higher sizes, most people look at board length, a smaller but wider board is the go, for example the shinn king George, it'll do you as a beginner board then as a lightwind, or the xride north 141, you can get some new old stock ie 2010 models really cheap, I saw some crazfly carbon boards online brand new for 550 in the larger sizes, something with some flex, and comfortable pads make it a lot easier on the body
