I have been toying with the idea of switching to fuel, I' have tried them all except the fuel, waiting for some wind and going to demo, interested to hear people's comments from those that switched and why? Not really into much except big jumps and dropping in on waves and popping off the top......

Yeah I have a trusty 12m Fuel and I swear by it.

It's grunty, very responsive and floats there quite well when I want to ignore it sometimes like popping a wave or sliding. I like how fast it spins too when I want to loop it.

But you'll be disappointed if you're not into jumps - big jumps because that's what I use my Fuel for. It's an amazing jumping machine, especially when looped. Who knows, you might be a convert I reckon.

Enjoy!

I reckon not to fuel for your riding style. Had a 2014 9m. Not sure why you want C for boosting & dropping in on waves. However if you really want a C i reckon a vegas or C4 are better options for your aim.

Size for size it has a great top end but then again you need to be well powered to get serious lift out of the kite.
Also a fuel is not fast turning unless you have a 7....

Anyway, just demo a few Cs and I am sure you will reach the same conclusion. More user friendly C kites out there for the average Joe like us.

yeah.. the 2002 one twenty Fuels were sick until 2003 then they went to 11 and 13.. uneven size's.

But still a sick kite.. if you want to take your kiting to the world champ level.. Get a Fuel!

p.s. I love watching KITERS like Ruben and Karolina and Sam and all the other kiter's that
throw down the shizzle on the best shizzle..

Tom is excused cause he's a great cook in the kitchen....

If I was to describe my riding style I would say, I luanch hit first wave boost, hit second wave boost........turn around back in and repeat, when I say dropping in in waves I meant down the wave hit the lip and stale fish of the lip, but wondering if they are a good solid pulling kite, tired Vegas two years ago was nice but not that rip your arms out your sockets was nice and smooth though. What's the hang time like is it a kite that if you don't get it right you drop like a stone...?

Flexifoils, hadlows are that rip your arms out kind of kite, great jumping kite, decent hang, but need solid winds, they're not that flash in their lower limits, it's due to their heavy construction

Interesting! I love big air and find the Vegas to give better lift than the fuel. There you have it, test and you will find what suits you best.

You can grab the 15/16 fuels for bargain prices though!

Mmm would have loved to have a Fuel to demo, when I had the Vegas, on that day I had a Core GT, Vegas and an Fone Bandit, in the end the Bandit had more pull compared to the Vegas, but the Bandit just was a bit more one off in the gusts....!

Kites like the fuel or Vegas require quite a different jump technique compared to a bridled kite like the bandit. You really sure you wany a C?

anyway, test, test, test.

So true.. it's called riding POWERED UP, then you
bear away a touch then you edge HARD and Load n
POP. Requires you to ride with balls not swing the kite from edge of window to the other edge of the window n do a dangly thing under it. It kinda excites me just thinking about it..

The big difference between every other c and the fuel is the 4 line. The 5th line c are awsome at freestyle but don't have as much power as 4 line. 4 line pulls harder and has a heavy loop.

I like a 5th so you can adjust how much tension is on the 5th. Tight 5th = tighter loop, early slack but not as bigger pop.
Looser 5th = more scary loop, later slack and a bigger pop.
No 5th = more power, more power, more power!

Oh and I find fuels reverse launch extremely well!

I like the Fuel bar pressure

I like no bridle

I like moving the bar and the kite responding.

I like how you can use a 14 inch bar on a 13m kite to steady the kite.

I like the fact they work in waves on a surf board and boots in the flats.

I like the way they haven't changed much and you can pick them up cheap.

I love the aggressive pull when you loop.

I like the fact, this kite has allowed me to progress to a point.

I don't like how they have a tendency tear at the struts after a heavy crash.

I don't like the fact I can't ride an 8m and 10m.

I don't like how the trim lines wear out too quickly.

I don't like the consequences if you make an error in strong winds/ unforgiving.

I have the same riding style as you. Where are you kiting today? Send me a pm and you can try my 7m or 9m.

I like the fuel because it's raw - always yanking at the front lines when the gusts hit, and like any c kite when you tell it to do something BANG it happens NOW. I only unhook rarely but i get why decent riders like it for that.

The main drawback for boosting on the fuel is the top end is much more real than a bow kite - once you're too overpowered you can't just trim heaps and keep riding. The gusts start to really belt you and you spend the whole time edging as hard as you can to push it to the edge of the window.

can i add

i dont like it how the trim line dangles long enough to wrap completely around the bar locking it into position and you have to manically try flick it back around the bar and get the magnet/velcro to try keep it out of the way.

thats always an exciting couple seconds for me if overpowered whilst this happens

Trim line shouldn't hang that long.

Cut it shorter, or use a more appropriate kite for the conditions.
