I am in my second month of kiting and my current kite is a 10m Peter Lynn Geurilla (foil). I'm looking to buy another kite ASAP that catches more wind. What would be a good suggestion (especially size) given that I weigh 90kg?

I haven't flown anything other than the Geurilla so am pretty excited about a new one as the 10m needs a fair bit of wind to get me going.

Cheers

may i suggest something along the lines of a 16m venom? 10m geurilla will cover you for a huge top end, and the 16m should have a good bottom end with enough top end to meet up with the 10. Kitepower have a V1 16 for sale for a reasonable price. V1 is pretty much same as v2 only has a few mods which you can do yourself anyway.

cheers

Thanks James,
As I found out a 10m kite is bloody small! From the limited info I had, I was thinking of something around 15m so a 16m venom sounds good.

Anyone flown a Geurilla as well as an inflatable style? How do they compare for lift and pull. I know they are really stable and good for learning and thats about it.

cambo,

i learned on peter lynn foils (guerilla and bomba) and my 2-kite quiver consists of a venom and a LEI kite. two different kites, two different sets of characteristics. i like 'em both for different reasons. personally, i prefer the venom to the guerillas and bombas.

the Venom is a qantum leap in performance to the guerilla 1 and 2 in the larger sizes.the intesting thing is that the 10 was more in line in design to the venom but did not get the gong in the larger sizes (2 differnt designs for the same model ,can you believe it!!!??)
Grab KP's 16 for a great deal ,or you might see a used 16 out and about ,or get the venom 2 16
All the best

foil Kites suck ass - pure and simple!!!!

I fell for the foils do this and foils do this crap!!! Let me tell you first hand (I rode foils for several seasons), if you want to adjust this and adjust that and come up with excuses why you ride a flying mattress go for it Or get with the program, test fly as many kites as you can and I guarantee you will neva, I repeat neva even consider riding those embarrasing excuses for kites - now stop talking like a loser and buy a slingshot fuel 06 or foreva be condemned to being a fag

your 10m g1 is roughly an 8m inflato

if you want a real bargain, a similar feel kite, find yourself a g1 13m (somewhere between a 12-14m inflato)

my old 10m g1 wouldnt come out of the bag until 20+kn

ignore surgeon, spend some time on the g10 and a g13/v16 or something similar, then test fly a good range of kites... you will quickly find what works for you

I had this instructor come down last month who rode Peter Lynns, in 18knots on a 10venom he totally took the piss out of all the riders in St Kilda that day, unhooked, kite loops everything the team riders of the major brands were doing this guy did it on a foil and more.
Lach knows, this guy.
If you can really work a kite you can work any kite
16m Venom2 would be a great step for you, try to also grab some 10m extentions for light days, you can also put them on your 10m for more grunt

Come here bitch boy and let me give you one up the arse. If you can't kite on a foil then you are just crap. I've used every kind of kite extensively and they all work fine.

As for the Fuel, its just a mediocre flying brick. The only good thing they had was one pump. They only look good because they hired a bunch of extremely good riders to show them off. Great marketing of a very average mid-aspect ratio kite. Fine if all you want to do is stand around on the beach and tell everybody how many times you've passed the handle out of your bum.

Hey Cambo

The Guerilla was fine in its day and the G10 does take a ****load of wind to get going.

If you like foils get yourself a Venom 2. The Venoms are way better than the Guerilla and the V2 offers a bunch of improvements over the V2.

Alternatively, get yourself a bow kite. They rock.
