Any snowboarders out there will be totally stoked on the freebords SOS just got in. They are a bit hard to learn but once you get it they carve, slide, float 360's and ride switch just like a snowboard. Bomb the steepest hill you want and stop at the bottom by putting it sideways like a snowboard. Drop into sos and watch the DVD and check one out in person. We have one demo board, but you'll have to fight to get it off andy!

well they may slide like a snowboard,

but asphalt grates your face much better than snow when you catch a front edge!

where is this shop?

Very true moby. The good thing is you can start learning going slow. Once you get good it is really hard to catch an edge. I havn't had a bad stack yet and I've been skating pretty much all today (on some nice big hills) Best fun I've had on a skateboard in years.
SOS is at 1 quarry st. Fremantle, WA ph 94307050

if u want to get sideways get a freebord. they wood also be sick in acarpark with a trainer kite. around 370 or so with bindings. takes about an hour and your drifting. sos has plenty in stock and a demo bord. good for no wind days too. could also improve your kiting if u want more practice riding in a certain direction or doing toe side carves , blind etc.

I've had a freeboard for about a year now (the X-80) and it is totally sweet. It is the closest thing to snowboarding I've ever tried. Some good spots to go are down south in the new land developments, where there's smooth roads and not much traffic. Also there are some nice roads in the Attadale area near Walter pt. Haven't tried it with a kite yet, but am keen!

me jake and shannon went freeboarding with our trainer kites today. it was the best fun ive had in light winds. hills still freak us out on the freeboard but with a trainer it is the best thing ever. if u start getting overpowered u can drift sideways straight upwind. and u can do surface passes and it doesnt even feel like you have wheels . no wonder they say its like snowboarding. but seriously. get a trainer. 2 or 3. 3 is better and a freeboard. takes about an hour to get used to the board and is hours of fun. head down to a carpark that is exposed to wind and empty and let loose. i know S.O.S. in perth have them in stock . hey luke have u used it with a trainer yet. i prefer it too hills. its actually pretty similar to kiteboarding. just without fins. if anyone is interested it a good cross over and can improve your kiting too. all u need is 10+ knts and u are fully powered. u can go down wind up wind anywhere nearly. check them out.

Sounds like fun Ryland, what length of line are you using?

I enjoy a similar thing on roller blades, but love them hills. I'm using 6m meter lines with a 3m foil. My dilemna is, I love being on the water too much, even on light wind days like yesterday....so I go and feeze my nuts off in da river.

Hi Ryland.

SIK, good to hear they work on a kite! We've done a bit of car towing and thats sik also. Surface passes are great fun.
Flow was that you who just rang SOS? I'll see if I can get the camera and we'll go and film some of your hills.
SOS opens at 10 so I'll seeya around then.

Aus240, $394 for any board with S2 bindings, and $365 with the S1 bindings. Check the freebord website. I use the S2 bindings and they're sick.

Met up with Luke and had a greaaaat time.. Found some GREAT hills, and had a blast riding.

Here are a couple of pictures... Most of the riding we did was filmed, but when we ran out of batteries on the camera, we took a few stills photos (well my dad did- thanks dad!)

11 boards altogether! 3 freeboards

Luke absolutely killing it around the corner of this lovely hill in Mosman Park

Me...

And another one of me..

We may have a video and some more photos soon.. Luke and Andy are the guys to ask I'm sure.

More pics, for anyone interested

Luke hansliding round the corner

Me looking like an absolute retard, handsliding around the corner.

Luke crashing into Andys car... both he and the car were fine, but he scored some nasty road rash on his arm. Looked crazy from the top of the hill.
