Considering buy a Switch Element 5 for wave riding but not sure what would be the best size to buy. I have 8 & 10m Nitros and am thinking to get a 9m Element. At 82kegs with a SB what would be the most useable size in Perth seabreeze type conditions.... say from 18-22knts

I'm 73kgs & in 18-22 would be on my 7m but could also use my 10.
I think a 8 or 9m for you would be ok, E5s have great range.

I've got a 5 and it's also perfect for foiling in summer seabreeze too Simon ! Anything over 18 knots - perfect.

Youll get a lot of use out of it ...

Oh I get it... Element 5 is the kite model/series. Not a 5m.

But 5m kites are sick you should get one anyway!!

Hey Snal
what SB's? And how good a Kiter are you?
I'm closer to 90kg, experienced WA kiter, usually strapless unless on big bombies.
15 to 20 = 9m
22+ = 7 or 6m

so 9 if you like being powered up, or get a 7 if you're mostly down winding.

and def a 5 as per bene for those 30 days....

Did you end up getting one? If so what size and is it any good?

I destroyed my 5m element 4 yesterday on some jagged rocks. It kind of overshot the wind window in a gust as I was just cruising along on a wave. It dropped like a rock and got mowed down by the wave then washed into some jagged rocks and torn to shreds. I am not too devastated as I wasn't really into the kite. To me it felt twitchy and would shoot too far forward in the window when riding waves and didn't have the smooth drifting feel of a wave kite. I'd had it overshoot the window and drop out of the sky a couple times before, this last time was it's undoing. The way it dropped yesterday really took me by surprise though as it was blowing about 30knots and you would think a 5m kite would stay up pretty easy in that wind

Bear in mind this is the element 4 I am talking about not the 5. Apparently the 5 has better drift. The build quality seems pretty good not good enough to withstand jagged limestone but then what kite would

Hey jezz...no I didn't get one yet and probably won't at this stage. Really I am wanting a kite to double as a extra-marginal conditions foilboarding kite and wave kite. Switch are working on a new line of all sized Heliums to do just that but they won't be available this season. The Airush Ultra seems just the ticket so they might get the cash if I need to buy myself a Xmas present
