Spent the weekend riding with the new Dynabar and I have to say Im pretty happy.

First up the bad or the things that are going to take time to get used too.
The pad is larger and stiffer and my ribs are paying the price now, when you jump and rotate to the wrong "notch" it can make your jump go rather wrong. BOth of these I put down to time with the Dynabar and getting used to the differences from the fixed system.

The positives, riding toeside is so so much easier - especially for those with back issues after kiting all day, there is no twisting anymore and after a couple of runs you get used to the clunk when it changes from centre to side. Walking your kite from launch to the water - had to walk 200m today due to low tide, the kite down low to the side, chicken loop to the side and all is a breeze, so much easier and no awkward straining or twisting, especially when its gusty!

Im pretty happy with it, for waves riders I dont think you can go past it, for freestyle danglers this probably isnt the best piece of kit for you. Now all I need is bigger waves

Which model and brand of harness are you using with your dynabar?
They are really solidly built but not overly heavy and come with all the spares (parts that wear) you would need to get through a couple of seasons at least.
In stock now.

Woo! I took the Dynabar for a run today in the first powered session i've had in months!!!!!!!
At first i wasn't too sure - It just looked funny and there was too much goin on for my liking...

So i left my waist harness in the car - Put on Rusty's Dak. Fusion seat harness with this thing attached to it and went for a ride...

The verdict?
Absolutely fantastic - Took me 2 minutes to get used to it and then it was awesome.
Transition between each of the 3 points was smooth and consistent -
Toeside was a breeze,
Riding blind was just plain weird for me but Super easy...
Comfort's really nice - there's a wide spreader bar pad there to stop it riding up at all. No bits to get your hands stuck in, no bits for your safety to get stuck in, no jams, no surprises...

It was actually very very cool...

If you ride with a seat harness but hate the restrictions - give one a go.

Just try it - it's not gay - it's not for old men, it's really very good at what it's meant to do!!!

Kitepower QLD and Sydney stores have demo's available

I have been wanting to try the Dyna bar for a while, so happy to finally get one. Rhys has summed it up nicely ....these are very good, very comfy and really improve your ride. Toeside in a dakine fusion seat harness is not easy. No problems now. Walking the kite just got a whole lot easier , body dragging is also a bit easier. It is well made and like Rhys I took just a couple of minutes to get used to.....I can highly recommend this to anyone who rides a seat harness. Can't comment on waist (but i have the pictures of Rhys in the seat harness...priceless)

I have been using it with last years mystic warrior (waist) and its sweet as... it does take a few rides to get used too - your initial switches you end up rotating too much, but that soon gets compensated for.

Im not sure about the dynabar donkey dick, I think I will remove it and continue to use the one on my kites. I find you also have to make your transitions from heel to toeside with a bit of speed or pop as the hook will at times stay in the centre position.

Apart from that a great piece of kit, great for waves like I said before, not to mention how comfortable it makes just walking up the beach!

To help kiters to understand how DYNABAR V3 works. The rider is wearing both seat and waist harness.

got my brother(boilmaker) to weld few bits and pieces together working of a standard bar a not exactly the same as dyna bar but aussie made have been testing 2 types for 2 months
have rode it in big & small surf, light& strong wind i find better for riding waves it feels like it you can go up wind a little better ,surf a wave with more freedom still jump small or high have used with straps or no staps also on a tt tip feels good but for surf i think and no weird **** happening with bar or your harness no scary moments no i gona die problems so far.

no cracks in welding, stress points ect have had welds checked by pro welding inspecter (mate has company)using dye penatrion and ultra voilet light which shows any cracks naked to the eye also breaking strains on bar using large weights and stressing to the max to find any problems
he has a few orders already but we will be testing more and he will have more ready for this summer or sooner for sale

It loooks from the vids like the hook is floppy .

What's the technique for unhooking and hooking back in?

Cheers

Hey Tribal how are you?

The Dynabar is working out pretty good - down the line sweet - does take some getting used too but I have to say has been pretty good so far!

Its bloody stiff too, doesnt move much at all, very solid construction and it also has its own donkey digit... its like a spring loaded thingy that you can use and seems to be very secure, if you dont want to use it you can remove it and use the standard donkey on your chicken loop.

Unhooking stock standard using their equipment isnt going to happen, you need to remove their bits then its as per a standard spreader bar, and as the hook automically returns to the centre all should be fine... I think...

Hi Lance. Yeah, travelling well and enjoying riding the GT.
Found a great way to stop my red and white boardies slipping down....cut a hole in the back just below the waistline and stuck my tail through the hole. (see pic.) Would probably work just as well around the front.

...so the hook doesn't dangle under the influence of gravity? (Looks like it is slung like a carabina, rather than being fixed in the "sticking out" position like a regular hook on a bog standard spreader bar.)

Woof!

have had my dana bar for about 8 weeks now it has performed quite well you can actually keep the bar in the centre location quite easly after a while moving it across to the side, for toe side riding is quite simple, we were swapping it back an forth with a conventional bar but have not bothered anu more after getting used to it working for the conditions.

currently in bali in light winds and it has been a benefit to working the board to the max for keeping up wind
the only negitive comment i have is that the sliding ferrule which they give you a couple of spares , they can get a flat spot on them the cost of throwing in a few more would be minimal or possible a harder wearing plastic of some sort but all good i am looking at getting a mate of mine to machine up a brass version and trial that will report back on sliding and any corrison issues

cheers

Like Ian, I have had the Dynabar for almost 50 sessions and have kept it.

It takes a bit getting used to but is robust enough IMO. Still needs some minor improvements, but they will come.

Major benefits for me is when walking and riding toe side because of reduced torque.
