Hey All

Just wondering if anyone could tell me the difference in flying characteristics between Cab Drifters and Vectors, preferably in 7m not too worried which years.

Obviously the Vector is aimed as an all round kite but as it's based on the Drifter I'm interested to hear how it goes in waves, would be interested to hear from anyone who uses Vectors in waves or has flown both and give me a direct comparison.

I currently have 9 m and 11 m Drifters and are looking to pick up a 7 m, seems to be some good deals around for Vectors and wondering if it would fit in with the Drifters.

Cheers

I used both and they were both good. Neither kite moves or turns super fast and they both drift reasonably well (I was using an 11m drifter, 12m vector, 14m vector ... which probably explains the lack of speed and slow turns). The 14m vector was my favourite kite until I tore it in half on a tree.

Have ridden 2014 9m Vector and am riding 2015 9m Drifter (and 13m). I found that Drifter had less issues with backstalling - never really had to pull the centreline to save it in about 15kn- wind going as fast as I could towards the kite. Had to save Vector from backstalling a few times. Have to work the Vector a bit more to get it in the position I want compared to Drifter. All kites set to quicker turning and more depower stroke settings.

Owned and rode 2009 North Vegases 7m, 10m and 12m and 2008, 2010 9m Rebel... ****, slow and backstally compared to 2015 Drifters. Had my gf on 13m for the first time ever flying a kite bigger than 9m (she flies 2014 Vector 9m and 2011 Nomad 7m). Said she was impressed and surprised how quick it turns and ordered a 13m for herself straight away. Reason: quick, stable, predictable, easy to fly... She tried the 2015 Switchblade12m, didn't like it at all.

I haven't flown other wave oriented kites of other brands. But I would definitely choose a 2015 7m Drifter over any 7m Vector if that was the case.

Thanks bigtone, appreciate the response.

I'd be looking at the smaller sizes so I'm sure turning speed would be a lot quicker, interested to know if you felt there was much difference between the 11m drifter and the 12m Vector, does the Vector pivot on itself when turning like the drifter and what years were they?

Both pivot well. 2015 Drifter better than 2014 Vector. Both 9m.

Cheers mate, thinking i'm probably better to stick with the drifters.
