I am a 92kg beginner with a 12m Airush DNA (similar to the Lithium) kite.

Starting to think about a 9m kite for the winter months at Rosebud Victoria.

I can wait for the 2015 Lithium at around $1700 or
I can get the Crazy Fly MooWii 2013 at around $700

But I read an online review of the Moo that said it is really only for beginners and low intermediates. It really seemed to be damned by faint praise. Perhaps this kite was discontinued for a reason?

Does anyone have any feedback on the MooWii? Knowing my own personality traits I am unlikely to buy the cheap one now and upgrade later.

Both kites are new in bag complete with bar.

I've got the 2013 MooWii in 11m. I'm just coming up to having kited for 1 year, and have only recently expanded my quiver, so others may have more nuanced opinions on it than me.

It's a low aspect ratio kite. This means that it's easy to use - just pull in the bar and go, not much need to faff about flying it to get the power. The downside of this is that it won't go upwind as easily as other kites, or jump as high.

It's also a very slow stable kite, with good relaunch. Reasonable drift too, but I wouldn't really know at my stage.

I felt a bit limited on it as I progressed on the flat water due to the upwind difficulty and slow responses. However, now that I've got 2 more kites (8m Ozone Catalyst and 14M Switch Nitro, I'm not finding upwind a problem (either due to using the kite in it's sweet wind range, or more skill, I'm not sure). It also seems to be a reasonably competent surf kite to my newbie eyes, just lacking speed.

The struts take a long time to deflate when packing up, but this isn't really a big deal.

The Quick release on the chicken loop of all Crazy Fly bars pre 2014 have a tendency to jam under load.
In my opinion the Lithium is a much more fun kite to fly. I also think that when learning its best to keep to the same kite in various sizes.

I got given the Ozone bar when I bought the Crazyfly kite, probably due to the reason above.
