Just getting into this sport, and have recently bought a 14m 2005 Co2 Cabrinha kite, with recon 1. I want to attach a safety leash, and would like to know what is the best way to do this. I know that Cabrinha have a bypass leash which attaches to the rear lines. Does this work or is there a better way? I dont want to be sitting in the water, feeling like an idiot, as the kite disappears into the hills.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I just copied this from an old post I replied to exactly the same as this, and edited a few areas.

I have the recon 2(so I am unsure how similar the 1 and 2 is sorry) on my 10m 05 Cab Element, and I've found the recon relaunch ability to be a real advantage; no more pulling, swimming towards the kite, and trying 2 relaunch; all you do is pull the stopper, it goes over, you slowly relsease, and hey presto... You're back up going!

I always leave the tap-out on ride, even though it states to place it on launch, because a few kiters here have launched on 'launch, and forgotton to change it when riding, and had to come in and fully re-set it because it tapped out! If you just keep it on 'ride' it acts as a normal bar, and u can always use quick release then...

I have an 06 Cab bungee leash attatched to a handle pass leash at the back of my harness. It is attatched to one of my back lines (with the included extension lead - or just on it's own will do).

To have extra safety, even with the recon, you can pruchase, or get a store to install a 5th line onto your bar and kite, which is an excellent safety, and can also help with relaunch, on the off chance the recon fails. If you have 5th line, you attatch your safety to the 5th line loop on your bar, not onto the back line.

Good luck with your cab mate... It's a great kite to ride

Throw me a line if you want any diagrams of my setup or anything.
