I am referring to the new convertible foil board not the twin tip from 2004!!!!!

Don't think there are any in the country yet? Just checked our shipping schedule and doesn't look like they are ready to ship till end September :(

Yeah. Home made, based on your own intuition and know-how, if there is any left in people these days.

Don't waste $$$ on fancy built boards, that is no more than plywood, fibre glass and carbon or alloy. Anyone can make these things.

It is a cool concept effectively having one board/ foil that could do it all, surf, twin tip and foiling, if you were travelling you could take this and 2 kites and be sorted for most conditions ( if you weren't too fussy on any of the disciplines)

Also I like the idea of a directional that is essentially a kiteboard not a surfboard and built tough like a twin tip, the ocean rodeo duke is along those lines

This is a thread of the french foilers discussing it - no actual reviews though, but as with the LF they're all pretty negative on it, pretty much saying it's an LF or Carafino copy and an outdated design by 3-5 years. Saying it's suitable for old men in light winds.

Liquid Force Fish Foil uses the same principal. The fish board is okay as a directional and solid as.

+1 for the LF Fish as a really effective directional for light wind and small waves and tough as.....

I've had the LF fish for a few years. I like it. It's great in all conditions. It's also bomb proof which is awesome. I've mounted a foil to it now and it works great for that. The Cabrihna board seems to be the same type of board.

Hey Craig just stumbled upon this thread again while Googling for reviews. I've tried it at the Kitepower demo day last weekend in Sydney and really loved it!

I've had my first foiling experiences on the LF fish and Carafino, and it was quite painful, but I can now do some decent runs and toeside turns and starting to try the jibes and tacks. The Carafino with freeride wings reaches decent speed and is fairly stable when you're up but I never felt quite right on it and always have a hard time keeping it flying, maybe because of the super thick board. The LF is easy to fly but it's pretty wobbly and actually slower than a twintip so the progression is quickly limited.

With that experience I was interested to try the Double Agent to see how it compares, and I have to say it felt way nicer on every aspect:
- the whole setup is much lighter than the LF, the board is thin like a twintip and I'd say half the weight while the mast+wing maybe 25% lighter
- even without straps (which I never dare to try before) I felt right at home and got up straight away, the wings seems to be very well balanced and more stable than the LF, I assume because of the tips are slightly curved while having a similar low aspect

While with the carafino I get tired after an hour of boucing up and down, I kept going with the DA all afternoon, even trying some full 360 carving turns and holding it when the wind picked up from 10kts to 15/16kts with my Zephyr, though being a bit **** scared going downwind at full speed.

I wasn't really planning to buy a foil but that Double Agent has got me very tempted.... Hopefully you can try one in that cold dark rainy island of yours :-)

I've heard there's big delays on the double agent - may at earliest. People seeking deposits back, etc, due to 6-8 month hold up. Are you sure on Feb/March?

FF defo not the only foil board available right now - I guess you mean between cab & LF only.

I totally agree,the foilfish is a great foilboard luckily I got mine secondhand and saved a few bucks.
I have also ridden the double agent down at safetybeach couple of weeks ago not a bad foilboard but I
prefer my FF,the cab board makes a whistling noise when up on the foil quite annoying after while but it's quite
stable I think the mast may be a bit shorter didn't have my FF on board to compare them both.
$2300 bucks new??

Yeah I noticed a bit of the noise as well but seemed to go plenty fast still. The Cab mast is a touch shorter I think. Plus side to that was your fall is shorter, down side is it wasn't as good in waves as the LF.

Both LF and Cab have an extruded aluminium fuselage which is cheap and inefficient. It will bend easily.

Only way to make a strong fuselage out of aluminium is to CNC a solid bloc. More expensive, heavier but at least you can work the profile instead of just delivering a straight bar....

I think 16kts is the fastest anyone's actually recorded on a LF FF. Most modern (french) alu foils will hit mid to high 20's, or ~30 with speed/race wings. Zeeko will do 30 straight outta the box for a 675 Euro alloy/FG foil. TKF Manta will top out at 22kts and go to 30 with the race wing for an extra $500. The Alpine access 5.0 alu has been recorded at 33kts with the sport wing upgrade or high 20's without. The sroka is good for about 27kts and there's a faster wing available.

As long as I have that beautiful silence and feeling of floating around on what is essentially a real life f**king hoverboard in next to no wind I'm a happy man. You can kook out on stats all you'd like I'll just worry about getting my stoke on

Yeah that's what I think too, but for the price vs "qualitry", the LF isn't cheap.

Do yourself a favor and try one of the good ones, you won't look back. Better quality, better design, cheaper or similar price.... No brainer IMO
