Hi guys,

I am very much into strapless jumping/rotations etc. and had my eye set on Skillit due to compact size and concave deck. Currentyl ride Nugget and Tyrant 6'1 strapless version. However, I feel that I could justify another board for windier and messier conditions which aren't Nugget's sweetspot and neither Tyrant's.

As I have the option to go either EPS (inserts and more durable but heavier) or PU version (no inserts, lighter, flexier but much? less durable).

Do you have any feedback on which one to go and also do you have knowledge if Keahi uses standard boards and if so, which version?

Thanks and good winds!

Rich Stenning got a PU 5'10" Skillet, lasted 2 weeks, then be bought it back in 3 pieces, he fell on it after getting a bit of air heading back out in head high surf....
Get the epoxy version IMO

That's what I feared the PU version would be good for more easy surfing and not much for aerials.

Thanks very much for the feedback!

Had the PU version for nearly 12months. I have had no issues withthe pu version.

Peeps will tell you the EPS version is stronger, It's just not the case. You land wrong on any version you will break it.

EPS is lighter but requries more glass, timber ect to make it strong enough. PU has been used for years.

Been punting wave riding it all the time. Love this board.

2014 they are not doing the PU version just EPS.

Adding to Hobie1463.... Keahi doesn't use standard gear. Pete shapes boards for him.

Hobie1463's board still looks mint and its pretty much all he rides. So much so I decided to get a Trigger in PU as his Skillet is still working....

I actually bit the bullet and went for the EPS version although I am only riding strapless and my main focus is on aerials.

This was due to seeing one of Keahi's videos and there he was clearly riding the EPS version, well, at least it had inserts exactly like the production EPS board has...

I am sure he is riding other boards as well, but he was throwing the usual sick stuff with that board...

In case of damage:
- EPS sucks water and looses it's strength
- PU doesn't take water and stays strong but weighs more
I don't like painted boards - I prefer clear hulls where I can see the inner material of the board: foam and stringer - and the eventual water: have a look into RRD series like: Maquina
