Been out on the C4 V6 with 5-line setup all weekend. Wind has been really all over the place and pretty strong, so haven't had the best wakestyle sessions in terms of landed tricks haha but I sure got to try the performance of it. Both for lighter stuff to unhook in and in real full on 35 knots on the 9m, boosting like crazy.
First impression on the 9m in 20 something knots was that it was really fast and even a bit flimsy in the air when unhooking, didn't really want to stay still. However that was easily solved when I figured out I had it setup to "fast turning speed", so I changed the steering lines attachments to the inner most knots on the wing tips which slowed it down a lot. After that it was like a whole new world. Kite stayed perfectly still when unhooking but was still really easy to loop and was pulling consistently through the loops.
Everyone switched to 7 meters when wind got to 35 knots but I was easily holding down the 9m (I'm 74kg) with minimal depower and went for some big boosts. Man that thing throws you up in the air like a rocket. Not as much hangtime and float as a bridled non-c shape but still massive fun.
In terms of unhooking I can only say that it gives enough slack for the most of us. I couldn't say if it slacks more than X or Y kite, because seriously I don't need it. I'm nowhere close to landing doubles so for me it's not the slack that's missing it's just skills haha. So someone might say "hey this kite slacks even more" but if you're not planning on signing up for the PKRA (or whatever it's called now) anytime soon then I'd say you'll have plenty of slack to go on the new C4. Previous years C4's with the bridled 4 lines gave some slack, but honestly it couldn't really compete with a proper C-kite. This year with the new 5-line no-bridles setup I'd say it's a whole other ballgame.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to give some a demo and see what I think. Will definitely set the smaller sizes up for slower turning speed unless its pumping and I want to risk a megaloop.
Any comments on bar pressure and build quality? I heard somewhere last years feel like a truck on the bar, but could have my wires crossed
