I am a 92 kg tt rider but i want to learn on strapless. Already tried some strapless, no problem to waterstart and cruise but Is the only thing i can do for now.
I decided to go for a csc, and in particular in my zone there are some north deals for csc whip 2016 and 2017.
In 2016 the whip pro csc came in 5.2 5.5 and 5.7 sizes. In 2017 and following they reduced to 4.11 5.2 and 5.5

I found a great deal on 5.2 2017, that Is supposed to be for 70-90 kg, meanwhile the 5.5 indicated for >85kg.
Technically i maybe should go for a 5.5, but what should be the trade off? if i decide to go for a 5.2, Ita gonna sink if i am too heavy or can be ok and very funny? Because i feel the bigger Is the less funny would Be... does It make sense?
I would use in choppy small waves condition, and price would be 450 euro with pad and fins, brand new. Shipped by a shop. Alternatevely i could go for a 5.5 2016 used pretty perfect condition for 380.
No way to demo any of them.

And needless to say the Seller say the biggers size 5.5 would Be enormous . Can i trust him?

I don't think that board would be a good choice, it's power hungry.
I'd suggest a nugget.

i know nuggets changed little bit tthe shape during years. Can you be more specific or maybe link something

I would go Whip pro 5'2" I do not ride them but have my own design and have had a go of Whip at 90 kg this is the board for you I no couple of riders in WA who love it At same Weight Do not like Nugget and never have But for light wind board and bigger guys or learner if you can get cheap one Then progress to better shape latter Note cut off nose boards with Lts example 23Lt will kite like 25 Lt Board

My suggestion would be go the 2017 whip in 5'5. You could ride the 5'2 no problems, but at 92kg i'd suggest you'd lose a bit of low end ability.

Nugget is a good stable board for learning, but the whip is far more fun board to ride.

I've been using the North CSC 2017 5'5" for the last few seasons in WA from 15 to 30kts (at around 88kgs) and it's been a great board. The low end of the board is pretty good, and I never really found the 5'5" hard to control when the wind picked up. At 92kgs I'd go the 5'5" unless u r kiting in a predominately very windy location (ie over 18kts everyday).

Thanks, pretty convinced for a 5.5. Obviously there is no used market for this size

The precedent year model came in 5.2 5.5 and 5.7, and i found 5.5. But i think it would be the same as 5.2 of 217 in terms of volume
Same thing for a naish skate 2017, good deal for a 5.5 but again, 22.9L

YO I am about 96kg on the 5'2 Whip. Its about 4LT under what I normally ride in a strapless surfboard. But due to flat wide shape 5'2 is sick. If you over East hit SMook up for a board. If you in the west go demo a Whip from Action sports they got one I demo d...Very noice...

As above Whips have wide tail area So if go larger size like 5'5 the tail is harder to sink for turns But Yes it will be better light wind Board

Hard to find, but I can say I bought a S/H Tomo Vanguard 5'6" and started my strapless SB journey Xmas eve.

For the record, Im 6'4" or 191 cms and sit at 101 kgs dry weight.

I absolutely fricken love the board. It took 2 seesions to get use to it where I can gybe and ride toeside no prob's, just can't get switching feet yet... ( about 1 in 20 success but not in surf only out the back)

Since buying, I packed my TT away and ride the SB as much as I can and it the last 3 weeks, started downwinders from Leighton to Trigg.

The board feels perfect for me, not too small.

I did demo a Nugget, just found whilst stable, it was very power hungry. I find I have been able to ride next kite in quiver down which helps as well. ( Couldnt get my hands on a 5'6" Whip to demo.


My thoughts for what its worth.
