looking for recommendation from any other big boys on 'all around' board. have a spleene door, mako 150x40 and have tried some various other 'medium' sized boards. want a more freestyle/freeride board for my all round- need the length for my weight and height - 6'5.

had 2 underground 152x44's 2007/2008 that did like- lost one/sold other(wish i hadnt)
tried nobile xtr 140x46- super stiff- hurts my ankles and knees in chop
tried older liquid force wlf- too clunky

trying to find anyone w/ the older underground for sale - otherwise- any recommendations for boards to try?

Liquid Force Influence from 2010 if you can get hold of one, 142x43, they are fast, and flexible enough to smooth out bumpy rides. top quality board and you will love it.

i had the 138x42 and sold it to get a concept dlx 138x42 and kind of regret it sometimes, both are excellent boards but I found the influence was better all round for freeride, choppy conditions and it had better low end performance.

the concept was more freestyle, flat water orientated which is what i do mostly but i just found the outline and flex of the influence very nice in choppy conditions.

give the new Underground Styx a try, I have the 142 i am around the 100 kg mark,they do make a 148. These boards don't ride like a big board. Good all round board, I am quite happy to stay on the styx even when the wind picks up. I ride mostly in big chop and have very delicate knees and after riding everything i could get my hands on, i have chosen the Styx and after 4 months I am very hapy with it.
You need to demo boards anyway so put one of these on your list.

Im a similar size and have an Airush Protoy - the last one they made with the flip up tips (09), its only 135 x 41 and I reckon its a great board, tried the exile versions and didnt like them. Didnt think a 135 would be any good for my size but it works well in most wind conditions including light.

Try the new Underground Stella 1.44 x 46 or the Styx 1.48 x 44, the Styx is probably the better all rounder, especially if this board is going to be your main ride.

Try and get a demo on a Nobile 141 Fifty 50 if your looking for an extremely comfy ride in chop with plenty of pop etc for freestyle stuff.
Its not great in the low end stuff but like me you have a door for those days but when the wind comes up the fifty is awesome fun but comfy in all conditions.

You beat me to the punch.

You get the Benifits of having a big board, but can throw it around like you would a 131. Pretty nice on the flat water, and better in the surf

The North X-ride is a pretty nice crossover board that still performs well in the bigger sizes, got a couple of boys riding the 140x41.5 up here.

honestly dude take my advice and go try an influence, the 5050 is a soggy noodle in comparison of all aspects. like i said i sometimes still regret getting rid of mine for the concept dlx...

Try the Nobile NHP in 137cm. The XTR is light wind specific so not aimed at what you want.

thanks for respones- but dont forget im 6'5 and 265lbs- no way will i buy anything under 140-144 length.

Naish Momentum. 100 kg and six two- it suited me as an all rounder but I ended up buying the Custom 140. Def the best all rounder I tried was the Momentum....think I might buy one this year.

haha u guys need to stop doing the post kite maccas/hjs stops

but dude thing to keep in mind, width plays a MAJOR role in light wind performance, you can do better with a wider slightly shorter board.

138x42 is a big surface and i know a guy whos similar size on one and loves it. but like i said it has a 142x43 as well which would be a perfect fit for you.

I have lost a coupla kilos- thanks for noticing.....

just an observation - all the pics of riders holding boards on teh ground vertical- seems to consistently measure about to top of armpit/mid-sterum. that makes about a 148-150cm for me. anyone else care to see if ratio matches size board they ride?

I'm in the process of buying a flyradical XL. it is 13X x 43. Never thought i'd find a board i would like more than my 666, but there you go.

Its expensive, but well worth it.
